Minor shift in gears here. Take a listen to this Son House piece:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NN2u_wFsFYA So, to recap, that's an old delta-blues legend singing and drumming on his legs in all minor key about the one book of the Bible that deals with the end of the world. Do I really need to say anything else?
I first heard this song sung by Cab Calloway in Blues Brothers 2000, the sequel to the legendary musical comedy myth. Unfortunately, whoever put the sound-track together didn't think such a haunting artistic piece was worth putting on the soundtrack album. Oh well, Hollywood can't get everything right. I used to try to sing this song at Sunday night home group back in New Orleans with Faith, Tim Josh, Ed, Cara, Sarah and her two little girls. Unfortunately, just like with Amen, you have to have someone who can sing it congruently to do it justice. I was much younger then, and I'm more mature now. (but then, maybe that means I can give it a go now. ;) )
Next up, the stuff from my deep childhood, followed by a timeless classic.
