It starts with balloons, I think. Floating and dancing in the air as though they had some place to be. Flashes of pink and white across the screen. It was me and three other people on the cold floor, leaning forward with our mouths full of pizza. Fast forward. Smiles. Fast Forward. Laughter. Fast Forward. Cake and candles. Fast Forward. Fast Forward. Fast Forward. And all of a sudden she ages. From a little mouse in pink booties to a small bunny covered in snow. Sometime in between the seasons, she seems to skip back and forth. She's unsure of herself. Change or change back? Fuzz and static. She's older and more sure of herself. Little Kara with the freckle on the bottom of her foot; she has to constantly be running. Where? She likes to say she knows but we know better. Just a smile and a nod and a cup of tea and we're back to the cold floor and the pizza which is almost done.
