[comics] more 'new earth' nuttiness
I have to catch up on 52, but I'm pretty sure there hasn't been an issue that shows Bruce Wayne undergoing traumatic head injury and/or being replaced by DadBot 2000. Or possibly the earnest, dim, and very sweet Bruce in Te's One Bright Day in the Middle of the Night.
Fluffybunny!Bruce is all over the OYL issues and he is freaking me out.
First of all, newly inane Bruce seems to think it's perfectly all right to discuss the Mission in public. At a party. That he's giving.
This is from Nightwing 129, and note that Dick doesn't seem fazed one bit by Bruce's new...openness.
No one's fazed, apparently. In DetC 828, Bruce is talking to Alfred in the Cave about a Brand! New! Character! who just happens to be his best childhood friend who's not Tommy Elliott. He even fills Alfred in on their youth together, suggesting that perhaps Alfred, too, has been replaced. Anyway, B!N!C! is apparently Bruce's only friend, leading Alfred to wonder about the others in Bruce's life.
..."you and the boys"???
But this newly emotive and appreciative Bruce doesn't express himself only to valued family retainers. Oh, no. He's all over "the boys", too, reassuring them at every turn that they're important and valued.
Take this comment to Dick in Nightwing #129:
It matches up nicely to *this* comment to Tim in DetC 826:
(I would like to note that while Tim certainly underwent *quite* the freaksome experience at the Joker's hands, it's hardly the worst that asshole has to offer. I believe the "worst" involves crowbars and bombs, but maybe that's just me? [And using Tim's civilian name while they're both suited up? NOT COOL, DADBOT.])
Perhaps I'm judging fluffy!Bruce too harshly. Maybe things haven't changed *quite* as much as I'm making them out, even with Joe Chill's capture and his effusive praise of his boys.
After all, this Bruce still loves Dick best and keeps him up to all hours and leaves him rumpled and sated...
