I realized a while ago that a lot of the time, when I'm writing journal entries I drop names that might result unfamiliar to those in the f-list. So, I'm writing a post where I will upload pictures and a brief description of those in my everyday life, sort of. I'll add to this as the need arises, so bear with me. Also, I guess my profile does tell you the basics about me, but how about I tell you more than you care to know?
I was born in 1976 in Mexico City, but for some strange reason my parents felt it made more sense if we told the government I'd been born in Veracruz. This irked me for the longest time, but I don't really care anymore. It's not like being a Chilango gets you places or anything. I have a younger brother, Fernando and we were very close growing up - we were both very geeky and I think we still are. My parents got a divorce when I was 13 and I don't think I ever really got over it - not the fact that they split up, but the fact that they took so freaking long. Hell, even I knew that was long overdue.
I'm an engineering major, but I never even liked the major (though I did like going to school) and in retrospect I guess I picked it as a way of throwing a tantrum that I didn't get to leave town to go to college. I met my best friend and I got married in the process so I guess it wasn't all bad but even today I wonder what it would've been like if I'd gotten my way in the first place. I am an English teacher and even though I became one by accident, I think there's nothing else I'd rather be doing.
For the last five years I've practiced flag football. It's weird, because I was never very good and so my coaches and teammates didn't pay much attention to me - causing me to continue not being very good. In 2009 I met coach Ceballos, and he completely changed the player I was. The turnaround wasn't smooth, but in the 2010 spring season I was named "Revelation of the Year". Here's a video of that season, and if you pay attention you can see me score a touchdown (at about 01:20)

Other things I do include learning French, which I would like to teach some day, and studying at the Universidad Veracruzana to earn a degree in ELT. I spend a fair amount of time online, and I've developed a thing for micro-blogging and networking.
And now, onto the friends list. In order of importance, sort of.
Well, if you do not know who this is then we might have a bit of a problem =P
These are my children. Fer is eight, he's in second grade and he's a bookworm all right. He's into Science and Math and I swear to God he can talk even in his sleep. Victor is five, he's in pre-school and he loves to ride his bycicle. He's got quite a temper and I think he gets some of that from me. But he's also very sweet when he wants something from you.
This is the TB, or the artist formerly known as the DH. Not much to add there.
Carlos. Architect. Almost 31. Married. We are related (cousins once removed) but we didn't really know one another until High School when we were classmates. We were part of a "gang" called "The Breakfast Club" and in the group we were the ones most alike. We aren't very close now (he's not computer illiterate but he shows distinct aversion to email/IM) but I still think of him as my Best Friend.
Roberto. 31. The oldest member of "The Breakfast Club", he was also the most fashion-conscious and suffered countless embarrassments at Carlos's and my hands. He lives in Veracruz now and is probably the only one of my high school friends with whom I IM regularly.
Gustavo. 31. He was the "child" in our gang, the youngest in a family of 5 siblings. He was also the one with the largest wallet and the only one with access to a car (a very battered car, but we weren't picky) so a lot of our high school escapades involving riding around in his VW. He's probably the only one of us that achieved everything he wanted to be back then: he's a D.J., works at a night club and a radio station during the day, still single and still lives at home with his parents. We don't have a lot in common these days, but it's always fun to talk to him and catch up on hometown gossip.
Montserrat (but everyone calls her Susu). My best friend. We met in college thirteen years ago and we have stayed very close although we sometimes do not agree on a lot of things.
Susu's son, Merlin. That is not his real name, but that's what we call him anyway so it stays. He's my honorary nephew and as such he's got his own tag in my LJ - with more pictures of him =)
Alex, also known as "El Negro". He's the reason I moved here (tl;dr story), and he's the Amazonas head coach - my coach.
Constanza. Grade six teacher at my school, also my personal stylist. We do not hang out much but we get along well most of the time.
María Elena. For four years now she's been my Spanish partner. We make a kick-ass team, probably the best in the entire school. We've said, half-joking, that if one of us ever decided to leave the school, we'd go job hunting as a pair ;-)
Krystal. Student as PSU, her father is Mexican, her mom is American. She spent a year doing an internship at my school last school year (2005-2006). We hit it off right away and we spent a lot of time together (most of that time, we were drinking coffee but that's a whole other can of worms). She's back in Portland now but we IM all the time and she'll be coming to Mexico next June.
Martijn. GM of Casa PalmaSola and my Spanish student until very recently. Dutch. Great friend and drinking companion (not that we did that a lot, but =P)
Jackito. Martijn's four month old baby. Cutest baby ever, period.
Laura. Martijn's fiancee. Jackito's mother. Great friend too, wish I could have gotten to spend more time with her.
I have a lot more pictures to add, but they need editing/cropping/whatever so I'm just going to leave this here for the time being and go spend some quality time with Mr. Gil Grissom.

This post has since been modified to accomodate the criteria for a homework assignment I had to do.
