rock on George for Ringo one time...

Lately, my life has been pretty much miserable. Really, there is no other way I can think to describe it. Last Saturday, I had to work a 4-12:30 shift, which is depressing enough. But, when I got to work, everything went wrong. After such a horrible day, I was looking foreword to Sunday, which sucked as well. Monday was my day off and even though I spent the day at King's Island and the fact that it poured down rain, I still had a lot of fun. I really only go to the park for fun about once a year, but it always ends up being fun. As stupid and weird as it sounds, I'm going to miss the place...not working there, but going there. I mean, there is no way I'm paying $45 to get in and $10 to park, but I've been contemplating getting a season pass in a few years, but only if my family gets one too so I can go with them. When I went back to work Tuesday and Wednesday, my luck was no better. I was talking to my mom about one of Wednesday's incidents, which involves me getting yelled at though my car window by a PKI security guard (aka RENT A COP) and my mom summed it all up perfectly "your life is like 'Groundhog's Day'."

So, I have one week left at home then it is time to go back to school. Eeeek, I don't know if I'm ready!! Going back to school is always a bittersweet event for me. It's more sweet this year because I hate my job so much and I finally have some friends to come back to. Still, I always get homesick when I'm in Athens, because I love being at home so much (and no, it's not just because we have the world's best chili, doughnuts, and ice cream here, however, I do miss them quite a bit). I mean, yeah, I worked a lot this summer, really crappy hours, but when I wasn't working, I was hanging out with my family. I mean, I really don't have any close friends left in Goshen, so I've become even closer to my parents, if that was even possible. I mean, I really want to make the best out of this school year, since I had such a terrible summer, but I know it is going to be hard at first, but I'll survive like always.

So, in lighter news, I got my Ben Kweller ticket today. Yep, I said ticket, since I'm still planning on going by myself. I fall deeper and deeper in love with Mr. Kweller everyday, so I am super-excited to see him live and possibly meet him. I barely ever get to go to concerts anymore and that makes me sad. Back in high school, I would be at a show at least once a month, but now I'm lucky if I get to go once a year. There are a few factors contributing to this fact. The major factor is the fact that my musical taste is slowly shifting and many of my new obsessions are so new to me, I'm not familiar with a majority of their work. I had the chance to see Sufjan Stevens last year, but this was before I had even heard the "Illinois" album and really only knew the lyrics to one of his songs. Now, I'd kill to see him, but he isn't touring around here anymore. Something else holding me back is the fact that I don't really have anyone to join me at shows. Back in high school, Whitney was always at my side, whether she had heard of the band or not and we always had a lot of fun, but she's not really like that anymore. We've grown so far apart. Since my music taste is going further and further underground, no one has heard of most of my newest obsessions, which sucks for me. But, I don't want that to hold me back anymore, so I got my ticket and if I can't find anyone to accompany me, then I'll still be right by the stage, rocking out to some sweet Ben Kweller music.

On a silly note, the other day I was at work, I got sent to a store at work called Spotlight Souvenirs, which is basically the most unpopular store in the whole park. Basically it is a bunch of random shit thrown together into one store, which is essentially what all of our stores are. What makes Spotlight different is it is the place to find our very small collection of Paramount/CBS themed merchandise, or as I like to call it, Shatner heaven! As soon as I walked in, my eyes were drawn to the obscene amount of Star Trek merchandise. Upon further inspection, which I had plenty of time to do, because of the fact that no one even comes into the store to browse, I foundt that not only did we have a shirt that featured the Shat, but had a Shatner bobblehead as well, which I found endlessly amusing. If I had more money and was sure I was going to meet Ben Folds in the near future, I would have bought him something with Shat on it, just to see his reaction, but alas, I need all the money I can get. Still, the thought of it makes me giggle a little.
