Things about the SPN / J2 fandom that bug me lately, in no particular order (ranting about it here because
fanficrants is (a) sick of SPN rants and (b) doesn't allow for my entitlement complex):
1. Shipping wars. Jesus fuck, the shipping wars. It hasn't quite reached the Heron vs. Harmony levels of animosity, but the Wincesters and the Dean/Castiel people are

But otherwise, yes yes yes. The shipping wars mostly amuse me because I'm a gen sort of girl, and the only canon pairings on this show involve people that no one ever seems to bother getting huffy over. And if it's not actually canon and stands no chance of becoming canon, then what does it matter what people ship? Sam/Dean or Dean/Castiel, neither is more valid than the other. I just don't see why people feel the need to argue for a ship, especially when neither one of them is or ever will be canon. I don't get why everybody feels like they have to argue about it.

As for what's canon, I think the overlooked distinction is that Slash *Fandom* is canon (spoken of, shown onscreen) and Slash *Fic* is canon (spoken, and shown onscreen, albeit truly awful Fic) but no, not the actual Sam and Dean slash I'd pay to see. That's a distinction without a difference for some folks, myself included when I found myself yelling "Slash is Canon!" after "Monster... ;)
But no, Sam and Dean haven't gone gay yet, Zachariah's rant about their "erotically codependent" relationship notwithstanding.

Seriously, I wish I'd never heard of #2. And it's probably not a really common thing, objectively speaking, but I've come across it more than three times searching through Delicious tags and it's just...eurgh.
