[Video] Entry 001

Jul 22, 2011 14:46

[The feed hisses briefly as it comes to life and for a moment all that fills the screen is...well, the ocean above and a soft glow around the edges due to the thing not too far away from the owner of the device. Several seconds pass before these are replaced by the face and shoulders of a certain general. One rather confused and wet General at that ( Read more... )

[There were days that he would just skim through the network, see what messages were left and if any were for him. Comes with screening any and all calls, and he never did break that habit after the last couple years. That was when he came across something said earlier this afternoon.

...

What... is this.

Cloud's eyes widen at the feed at first, wondering just why he didn't sense that same, overbearing power on his mind as well as the malevolent aura. The coldness was still there, yes, but at the same time...

He's in for the brain break of a lifetime, isn't he.]

... Sephiroth.

[Keeping his voice guarded for now, because there's still the possibility... especially after Zack and Aerith-

But what if he wasn't and just putting on an act? A certain chocobo head just can't get that possibility out of his head.]

[He hears the young man call his name, but with just one word to go on and the communication just being audio; he can't quite pinpoint just whom the voice belongs to, even though it feels somewhat familiar almost. His answer is calm and completely sane and sincere, whether Cloud believes it or not.]

Yes?

[...Yeah, brain is already breaking and he isn't certain if this is a good or bad thing. Keeping the guard up just a little longer, but he will switch the feed to video momentarily. ...Once he gets over the urge to hunt him down and demand to know what was the last thing he remembered instead of taking the calm and rational method.

... Screw it.]

What's the last thing you remember?

[He has an idea who the voice might possibly belong to with the question, but he holds off still on venturing a name just yet. He'd rather be certain than make a mistake in his identification.]

This line isn't secure enough for a detailed answer, thus I will merely state that I was dealing with investigations in Modeoheim before awaking here. If you desire more details than that then I would prefer to speak in person or over a more secured line.

Modeoheim...

[So, was it really before he burned Nibelheim to the ground? Siiigh. Alright, that proves that he is either from a time he's still sane or an excellent actor.]

Alright. Where-?

[Hold on, locking part of the conversation- Ah, there we go.]

Cloud Strife. Sorry, but several from back home were here before from both the past and the future.

[Shit, what happens if someone tells Sephiroth what happened- er, will happen. He wants to somehow hold him accountable, but- Ugh, this is so confusing!]

[So he had been correct in his identification. He also noted that Cloud had locked the line between them, interesting.]

I see. I have heard that such was possible earlier.

[He pauses, thinking. Well, it would clear up questions he had about what the blond soldier already knew and would tell him just where about in the time frame he was from. As they say, what's good for the goose, is also good for the gander.]

What time frame are you from, Strife?

[Safety precaution.] At least you got the warning in advance.

[First Zack... then Aerith. Yeah, the last one stung the most. Also, damn to hell below whoever came up with that phrase. Because it meant that he'd have to dance around what happened.]

About seven years ahead of you, I'm guessing. Rufus was head of Shinra for two years and rebuilding the company after the war.

[Which war? He's not telling.]

Fortunately.

[He paused. Seven years was a considerable sum of time, but at least it saved him from needing to explain anything to the other man. However it left him with a considerable amount of questions he had to decide if he wanted to ask and if he did ask...did he really want to know the answers? If Cloud even gave them to him...what did the future mean to him here away from their world? It was almost enough to give one a small headache.]

I see. I assume his father died during that war? [It was the logical answer..unless the boy had decided to take out his father to gain his power for himself. Considering the Rufus he knew, he wouldn't put it past the boy to do so.]

[Feel his pain, general. Feel it. For with the headache that came from looking into the future, there's an equal for looking into the past. A younger, sane Sephiroth... the same one he'd looked up to when he was a kid. Tch.]

Yeah. Assassinated in his own office. [Leaving out the other details? Most definitely.]

[He wasn't really surprised to hear that, not given the amount of enemies the man had. After all, the man had nearly met his end once in Junon...if he hadn't been there. His thoughts paused at that and begged the question of why he hadn't prevented the attempt which it would seem had been successful.]

...just where was I during that, if I may ask, Strife?

['Because you committed the deed-' No, no self. Bad. We do not tell the would-otherwise-be-insane SOLDIER he becomes that much of a turncoat, especially not yet.]

... Missing in action.

[For a good half a minute, there's dead air. The fact he wasn't there...or rather more to the point was MIA...had he left on his own or had he become a liability to the company and they had sought to be rid of him much as they had tried to be rid of both of his friends.]

I see. [Another pause, shorter this time.]

Do you know what happened to Genesis...and Zack?

[He cares not what happened to AVALANCHE, nor the rest of the company...Angeal had already passed on in his time. So that left the only two he could call friend...or had called friend at one time at least.]

[The former, sweet deities above, was the the former.] ... [That dead air? Yes, it really is mutual by then. Genesis... He knew that name. Ugh, where was the last time he saw- ...Zack. That's right, Zack had defeated him but left the former 1st Class alive.]

Genesis was alive the last I saw him. He's probably still around somewhere now that the company's in shambles.

[But as for the latter... he hopes the silence was an answer enough.]

[The silence was indeed telling...The sheer irony of what came in the future rendered him equally silent and speechless. Genesis...whom had been dying when he'd last saw him was alive and he must have found his cure if he had managed to survive....and Zack who had been healthy and alive was now apparently dead. He both wanted and didn't want to know how the young man had died...especially considering what Cloud had said about him being MIA and knowing how ShinRa had treated both Angeal and Genesis after they went MIA.

They must have had a collective heart attack when he had went MIA and he could all too unfortunately see them sending the Turks and Zack after him much as they had Genesis. The dead air stretched on a good minute or more as his mind took Cloud's words and silence and painted a rather unpleasant mental picture with them.

For once...the voice has lost its coldness, the calm is there, though barely.]

I see. [The words, "What Happened?" are in his throat but he isn't really sure he wants to hear confirmation of what his ( ... )

[He remained silent for a long while, momentarily stunned by the loss of familiar cold in the tone in Sephiroth's voice he was used to. Was this a part of him that was still...human? Beyond the "monster" Hojo intended to make of the man most of his world had once revered as a talented swordsman and soldier? Cloud has to remind himself that he too had friends back then, even though it was a shock.

So when Sephiroth apologizes? He is suddenly glad that he's already sitting down on the couch in his apartment, Tifa sleeping in the bedroom with the door shut.

The guarded, indifferent tone his voice had carried the entirety of the conversation just flew out the window.]

Yeah, he was... Still is. [He looks over to the corner, where the sword his resting against the wall.] A living... legacy.

[He sighs.] He'd gone MIA the same time you did. I went with him, but it wasn't enough to stop them.

[Cloud's revelation that Zack and he had went MIA when he had shattered the building guilt that had come from the mental logic he had been using on Cloud's previous words. It had been the company who had killed him, not him. When he next spoke, the subtle sorrow that had been in his last words remained but the guilt was gone.]

No, they would have likely have pulled out the entire force to go after you both...since he and I were the last of their SOLDIERs. Make up in sheer numbers what you lack in power.

[He was quite certain they had very likely focused on Zack first since Zack wasn't as powerful as he was. They had to have known that sending anything less capable than Turks after him would be tantamount to a suicide mission. Which might explain why the Turks hadn't been there to protect the President from dying..though he rather hoped they were still alive. There was only one way to find out though and put that fear to rest.]

Do you know anything about what happened with the Turks?
