(no subject)

Something's been eating at my mind for a while now since as long as January, but a couple discussions that've been popping up on several LJ communities has brought it up to the surface.

Does anyone really think the Organization is that evil as Nomura presents them?

I mean, think about it. Here you have thirteen individuals who by all means should be dead, but because they were more than average people, they survived despite losing their hearts and their memories. Their ultimate goal is to reclaim those hearts. There's a whole lot of tragedy and hopelessness and suffering you can evoke from a group of people like these guys.

Unfortunately, since the Organization does go about the wrong way to achieve their dream - using Sora as a tool to defeat Heartless, kidnapping teenaged girls with hourglass figures Naminé and later Kairi to manipulate Sora further, and interfering with the affairs of several worlds - they are, ultimately, the end-all, be-all antagonists of the game.

But are they really that bad? I mean, let's take a look at several of the Organization:

--Roxas left when he found out his other half still existed, so some things ( such as identity ) were more important to him than Xemnas' goal.

--Axel is branded as a traitor for his actions at Twilight Town and assisting Sora ( and maybe even for the murders of Vexen and Zexion at Castle Oblivion ). Axel states that all he ever wanted was to see Roxas again.

--Saix's last words. Oh wow. All he ever wanted was his heart back.

--Demyx doesn't really seem to fit in with the rest of the Organization at all. I mean, he has his orders written down on pieces of paper, for crissakes! He comes off as a decent person.

There are probably other examples I haven't brought up, but these are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

But there you have it. It sucks that, after all the cutscenes dealing with the interaction and motives of the Nobodies stationed at Castle Oblivion, KH2 makes the Organization so... one-dimensional. It's rather depressing when you're an Org fan like I am.

Does anyone else feel the same way I do?

mrr, it's ranting time, kingdom hearts, gip, geekdom
