The reason not to update daily in small tidbits? I now have a thousand things I want to talk about. So let's default to the pretty, shall we?
I have never read Fifty Shades of Grey. This is not because of the subject matter, but because my Inner Goddess cannot take reading in first person present tense about anyone else's inner goddesses. She's mean that way. However, it was utterly obvious, based on a sentence-worth, that the casting for the film version was just wrong.
This is what we should be getting:
Fire that casting director. (But I mean, seriously, Cumberbatch rocks the white hair. He was just dirtily unkempt in The Fifth Estate as a blond, but to god the white makes his eyes look amazing.)
The photo is from a huge photoshoot by
W Magazine, which is both barmy and touched with genius. The pictures at the magazine website are truncated; you can find better versions at Tom and Lorenzo's site
here,
here and
here. Two more of my favourites (excluding the Ed Norton one, which I can't find online - cmon, fandom, get your act together and get that photo up!) are J K Simmons for his role in Whiplash, which I have yet to see; but here he looks like a pleasingly pink version of Alex in Clockwork Orange:
and Tommy Lee Jones, who is all sadness to be in this insane photoshoot:
The prize, though, goes to Emma Stone for outing herself as a slasher:
- "My favorite love story is Planes, Trains and Automobiles. The relationship between John Candy and Steve Martin is so touching.
I must like male love stories because my cinematic crush of the moment is the cast of Foxcatcher. Channing Tatum just knifed me
in the gut and ran. He slayed me-I don’t even know what to
do with myself.”
I look forward to having Channing Tatum knife me in the gut, too.
