Dear ShipSwap Writer,

Thanks in advance for the story you're going to write for me! This is my first year participating in this challenge, and I'm pleased as punch to be here. I try to foster a low-pressure environment, so just know that I'm fairly easy to please. If you have fun writing for me, I'm sure I'll have fun reading it!

Themes/tropes I enjoy include mysteries, action/adventure, humor (inc. crack!fic), hurt/comfort, rescuing/being rescued (from dangerous situation, not so much emotionally), snappy dialogue, forced to work together (to overcome obstacle, solve puzzle, defeat bad guy, etc), drama, angst, bromance, friendship, found family, epistolary fic, dark!fic, exploration of character back stories, reincarnation, and post-death reunions. Also, seeing how this can apply to the majority of pairings I requested, I seem to like one character being super stable/sure of themselves/more experienced and helping the less stable/sure of themselves/experienced character to feel safe, cared for, loved, etc. Bonus points if the more sure of themselves character is also vulnerable/unsure in some way and isn't entirely as on top of things as everyone thinks.

Kinks I like include femdom, MMF threesomes, DP, CFNM or CMNM, crossdressing, pegging, partially clothed sex, frottage, bondage, sensory deprivation, tease and denial, and non-sexual affection (where affection is lavished on someone with absolutely no expectation of it turning sexual in that moment - okay, prob not technically a kink but whatever, you get what I mean).

I don't particularly like things like mpreg, A/B/O, gender swap (although trans and non-binary characters are fine), kid!fic, or anything too schmoopy or fluffy. AUs that explore different choices the characters could have made in canon are okay, but nothing that puts them in a completely new environment or time period, please. I'm not triggered by non-con or dub-con, but I'd prefer not to go there for any of these pairings.

I have no preference for present vs. past tense or first vs. third POV, so do whatever you want there. Second person is risky, but it's not an instant backbutton for me. Rating preferences are dependent on pairing, so those are included below. These prompts are just suggestions, so if your muse takes you in another direction that's fine with me.

For the specific fandoms and 'ships I've requested (in alphabetical order):

Agents of Shield
Leo Fitz/Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie

I love Fitz being confused about his own observations and comments on Mack's physique. I love Mack being able to accept Fitz as is and relate to him without preconceived notions, and I love Fitz appreciating Mack not coddling him (but also kinda sorta wanting to be coddled a little bit maybe).
  • On a field mission, Fitz and Mack are teamed up. It sort of reminds Fitz of his bonding in the field with Ward, and so he's super hesitant to trust that he's not going to be betrayed again.
  • Fitz and Mack must beat the clock and solve a puzzle in order to save the rest of the team. In the middle of the chaos, feelings are felt and dealt with awkwardly.
  • In their down time, Fitz and Mack introduce each other to their respective music libraries.
  • Bonus points for non-sexual cuddling and affection with these two in any scenario.

Crossovers
Kurt Wallander (BBC Wallander)/Greg Lestrade (BBC Sherlock)

If you'd like to know what I love about Wallander, here's a link to my pimp post on smallfandomfest. And Rupert Graves' Lestrade is an underutilized gift to Sherlock. I love Lestrade's dogged optimism and gregariousness in contrast to Kurt's morose cynicism covering a heart that cares too much. I just think these two old coppers would be really good for each other, and I want them to meet and hit it off, and I want Kurt to be happy for once in his miserable life.
  • Lestrade goes to Sweden on vacation and gets caught up in one of Kurt's cases (either as victim or witness).
  • Lestrade goes to Sweden on some sort of police exchange program and works with Kurt (who is initially ornery and stubbornly opposed to the whole idea but warms up to Lestrade eventually because how could you not).
  • Kurt goes to London for some sort of mandatory training and meets Lestrade (who is either also attending or presenting the training).
  • Kurt and Lestrade had met long ago in their youth, and reconnect after Lestrade's wife files for divorce.
What little has been written of this pairing has mostly been written by me, but don't feel compelled to keep to the same 'verse as those stories. Also, I'd prefer no John and/or Sherlock appearing at all unless it's brief and critical to the plot, and no background John/Sherlock. Also no Kurt/Magnus, Lestrade/Sherlock or Lestrade/John as past or current relationships, please.

Preferred rating: G to Mature

The Hobbit - JRR Tolkien
I'm specifically requesting book!verse for these pairings. While I did enjoy the movies, the characterizations and dynamics between the characters were quite different, and in these instances I prefer the book versions (movie!Beorn was way too grimdark, for example. I like singing and story-telling Beorn!).

Bilbo Baggins/Balin
  • I like to think of these two carrying on a long-distance relationship over the years. So something that chronicles their relationship from the time Bilbo left the Lonely Mountain to the time he returned and found Balin had gone to Moria. (An epistolary fic would fit well with this if you're game.)
  • Balin visits the Shire. What do they get up to?
  • Huddling for warmth on the way to the Lonely Mountain.
Bilbo Baggins/Beorn
  • Bonding over gardening and bees.
  • Beorn tells Bilbo tales of his people (over copious amounts of food and drink).
  • Bilbo sharing Beorn's bed, or bunking together on the road home.
  • Bonus points for bear cuddles in any scenario.
Gandalf/Saruman
  • Gandalf initially was enamored of Saruman in their youth and looked up to him, learned from him, and trusted him. But Saruman changed (or perhaps he didn't change all that much and Gandalf simply woke up to Saruman's flaws). I'd be interested in seeing the long, slow disenchantment of their relationship, ending in betrayal.
  • What happened between them when Gandalf was imprisoned in Orthanc?
  • This is one where the film!verse is close enough that I won't mind elements from that being brought in if you choose.
Goldberry/Tom Bombadil
  • Some time ago I read this meta on Tom Bombadil as a malevolent force and it kind of blew my mind. So anything exploring dark master Tom and evil huorn willow Goldberry would be awesome.
  • If you don't want to go dark with them, anything about their courtship and how Tom eventually persuaded her to leave the River, how they reached any compromises regarding their living arrangements, etc.

Marvel Cinematic Universe
Apparently Sam is the common denominator in my rare pair preferences for MCU. He's the perfect mix of wisdom, caring, snark, humility, and bamf-ness. You can't go wrong with Sam!

James "Bucky" Barnes/Sam Wilson; James "Bucky" Barnes/Natasha Romanov/Sam Wilson
  • Sam (and Natasha) comes to terms with the fact that Bucky tried to kill him (them)
  • Steve can be a little uptight, and Bucky feels he can be more himself with Sam (and Natasha), since they didn't know him before
  • Sam and Bucky (and Natasha) are trapped and need to work together to get out (going from not trusting each other at all to grudging respect to genuine affection)
  • H/c where Sam is hurt and Bucky (and Natasha) tries to care for him. Awkwardly.
  • Threesome PWP is welcome - not too angsty (although it is Bucky, so...)
James "Rhodey" Rhodes/Sam Wilson
  • On a mission, Rhodey is impressed with Sam - starts out as a mentor/mentee dynamic, but Rhodey (the mentor) soon finds he has a lot to learn from Sam
  • Bonding over war stories
  • Bonding over "my dumbass best friend" stories
  • Food is love, and both Rhodey and Sam are excellent cooks (and they may be a little competitive about it)
Natasha Romanov/Sam Wilson; Steve Rogers/Natasha Romanov/Sam Wilson
  • Natasha and Sam being flirty wiseasses with each other (and maybe Steve learns a thing or two from them)
  • Sam and Natasha being in cahoots to play matchmaker for Steve and ending up realizing *they* are the perfect match for each other (and/or for Steve if you're going the threesome route)
  • A mission goes south and Natasha has to rescue Sam (and Steve)
  • H/c where Natasha is hurt and has trouble accepting care and comfort, but Sam is patient and persistent (and not putting up with any bullshit)
  • Threesome PWP is also welcome - just make it playful and fun instead of serious business. ;-)
Preferred rating: G to Explicit

That's it. Hope I've given you enough to go on.  Happy writing!
