Drinking hot chocolate is sort of an art in itself. You must learn to sip with precision of timing. If you otherwise get impatient, you will risk scalding your tongue and ruining your taste buds. This is unfortunate because I am too eager to get to my favorite part of the drink: the rich chalky layer on the bottom. The consequences are dire: so many wasted cups and the surface of my tongue feels a little raw.

The past couple of days have been a whirlwind of events… I spent the weekend in London! Where I tried on expensive dresses in Harrods! And almost considered buying the prettiest purple dress from Nicole Miller…before reminding myself that all these purchases will seriously break the bank. And a visit to the Absolut icebar, where everything is made of ice-including the cups! And riding the London Eye! And eating in Covent Garden! And visiting the dinosaur exhibit in the Natural History Museum! And walking through the bustling nightlife in Picadilly Circus! And relaxing in the Kensington Gardens! And spending the night in the lovely and well-situated Strand Palace Hotel!

Today I learned how to play croquet on the lawn with the TAs. I felt like Alice in the Wonderland! And this evening a couple of us visited the Society of Astronomy Observatory, where we entered this tiny domed building, opened up the roof, and watched the stars through a large telescope built two hundred years ago. It was so large that we had to climb a ladder to sit on a seat and peer through the telescope. The best part was seeing Jupiter and three of its moons. We could see the little hazy stripes in the center!

There’s so much that has been happening and so little time to document it all! But it’s getting late and I need to catch some ZZZs. So more later!
