So I'm back! ....or well...ehmmm... I was back yesterday in the evening, so sorry if some of you were waiting for an update. Here it is :)
Got up at 5 yesterday morning to be able to arrive at
Schiphol airport at 7 or so. Flight to Paris was delayed for about half an hour because of scheduling constraints at
Charles de Gaulle airport. In the end I hopped out of the subway at
Les Halles at around 11 in the morning. Somehow not having been in Paris for 14 years kind of dwarfs the city in your imagination. I had the distinct impression that I'd be able to walk from there to the
Arc de Triomphe in about half an hour....I was quite wrong there, since it is quite a walk. Oh and it was cold....in the afternoon it even snowed for a moment, sadly that didn't last. I arrived at the CESR office (
Avenue de Friedland) well in time
Now about the job interview: I was interviewed by the IT director and the newly appointed (officially starts on January 1st 2008) Secretary-General. They started of by explaining some things about the reason the project is going to start and what they expected of it.
After that I was asked to tell some things about myself and about the things they had seen in my resume.
I think the interview went ok, I'm confident, but not overly so. Since I did not perfectly match with all requirements the question of whether I fit the mold remains. I do think I gave them a good impression.
Now I have to wait for a month or so before I'll hear if they really want me or if someone else made an even better impression....so now more of the waiting, but with this good interview as a memory to comfort me during the coming holidays :)
