jamyoung samten, a monk we got aquainted with, took us to his uncle's house for tsampa, flower tea, bread & yogurt served by a monkey-faced adoptee from lhasa. this old woman sat beside us with her prayer beads murmering in throaty tibetan and entirely ignoring us.
