The Veritable Shiz -PART SEVEN- I collect fashion blogs so you don't have to

Feb 21, 2010 01:47

Hello there! Wow it's been a while! Those of you on my friendslist might have seen my posts saying that this blog was going to be posted last week, however a quick decision had to be made an I am now in the midst of moving in with my boyfriend Robert. So things are rather hectic over here! But today I speant the bulk of my afternoon shopping in heels so I need to put my feet up and the boys are going out in an attempt to find non pretentious clubs on Old Street so what better oppurtunity for me to get enough time and peace to put this big ol' blog together. I am still taking material from http://www.dropsnap.jp/pc/snap.php , www.hel-looks.com , http://facehunter.blogspot.com/ and  http://stylescout.blogspot.com (however they are on and off of hiatus alot) If anyone could point me in the direction of a good London based street style blog that would be AMAZING, as style scout don't really post much for me to comment on and I'm not out enough, nor brave enough it would seem, to take my own photos to get more London coverage.
OK on with the show! starting out into the coldest place I think I have featuring in this particular post-helsinki

hel-looks-outi
i just love how everything she has on has a kind of, non specific shape. Everything has large creases and a soft outline. It's a strange thing to notice on a more everyday outfit but here i think you can see it in her bag and her coat the most. Just so interesting that right down to her boots, she has the same sort of flow in her clothing.

hel-looks-maija
now i picked this one out because it reminds me of the girls I saw in FRUiTS waaay back when i was about 14. It's a funny style that's still about that sort of preceeded decora. I think it's great, anyone who can layer like that an pull it off is dam good in my book! Her complete disregard for colour an print coordination i think is what makes it work haha!

hel-looks-samult
ok so this might just be totally playing on my geek fetish but I love the fashion for turn ups at the minute, an that's not just because i'm obsessed with footwear an i'm up for any excuse to show more of my footwear off, but because it allows you to show off cute wooly patterned socks!

hel-looks-natalie
now I've heard of owners looking like their pets, but dressing like your pet has never seemed more appropriate! I love how the knit an fur look against eachother, an that big knitted flower on her headband i think helps to soften up this look.

hel-looks-melissa
I picked Melissa out because her dress reminded me of that artist that does the photographs with purple cats, anyone know who i mean? anyway i think it's great, twee but not tooo twee. Also that satchel is PERFECT, every one i come across is too small or a funny shape or in very bad shape or overpriced, that one looks brilliant, an it's nicely coordinated with her shoes-i don't know why that always impresses me but it does!

hel-looks-hanna
just so much fun! love all the shades of pink going on here, the bands on her shoes really add something, i think it stops it being too grounded-which is always something i like in more extroverted outfits. Also i really like how her dress looks like the sun an she has a cloud bag, i think maybe we could all do with dressing like how we wish the weather was.

style scout 1.1.10
my only style scout one.now, mink, fur, a tricky subject, an one we're gunna run into alot in this post-if you're mega anti fur erm...maybe leave now? I am anti new fur, however vintage I'm all for. In my opinion if it's not being used it's like that animal really has died for nothing, but new fur is encouraging the trade a little more than i'm comfortable with. ANYWAY this girl here has one of the biggest stoles i've ever seen! I love how it dangles like that, i hide my scarf ends away but i like how they become the main event here.also if anyone can tell me how to tie my hair like that i will send you invisible but fantastic tasting gifts...

dropsnap-9-01-10
not such an exciting one to begin with (we'll get there don't you worry!) but i really like it. I love the sheer blue against the toughness of the big doc martens boots, this is something i'm definately going to try myself. I think it's a wonderful contrast and it doesn't become too much like the current trend for tough bedraggled 90s grunge style nor too delicate an girly.

dropsnap-6-11-09
can i class this as otome? i think i want to class this as casual otome. An oh how i like otome. It's smart but still so very cute.I love the blue hues going on throughout this outfit an i think the knee socks look really good just under the knee, it makes it more girly and young.

dropsnap-31-10-09
polka dots!my current obsession!i only own polka dot socks, what iwould give for that coat! i love how thick the hood looks. Also I really like the different textures in her outfit, the smoothness of the jacket to the fishnets, i think it's really interesting.

dropsnap-30-12-9
grimoire-the new cool thing...i'm not so sure about that but there's definately more coverage for this strange style then there used to be. Grimoire is a shop in japan that stocks vintage clothing that harks back, i would say, to eras earlier than the 50s. Sort of victorian, edwardian, gothic, folk, vintage style. It's opulent and rather beautiful. I love how grown up it looks, and everything works well together. The flowers in her hair are mirrored in the prints on her clothes, and on paper that would seem a little OTT but because of the dark colours of her clothing it all seems rather elegant.

dropsnap-3-01-10
onto something a little less subtle!i have no idea what style this is but oh how i love it! I love how nearly everything is a very pale pastel colour but that scarf injects just a little bit of life into it stopping it becoming very washed out.

dropsnap-29-12-9
knitwear, and lace, two of my favourite things. Two things you don't see together that much! but this girl has done it really well. I love all the dusky tones an that her jumper is actually cut short to reveal that the lace around her bottom half is actually tied around her.Like she's trying to show the layered ribbons and cord.

dropsnap-27-01-10
now i'm desperately trying to get more men into this blog! Boys you need to get out there an reprent a little more!I like this because of the unexpected accesories. He is essentially wearing a black outfit with oversized trouser pockets. But he's wearing big gold and blue trainers and a plastic chain around his neck. An bizarrely it works.

dropsnap-28-11-09
so what i like about this is a little odd. I like how his hair has sort of, become part of the outfit in the way it is hanging just beneath the edges of his jacket. Also those trousers-wow. Much prefere these wierd things to the harem trousers that are everywhere at the min.

dropsnap-29-11-09
ok so can we take a minute here. he is wearing a puffer jacket, that resembles gorilla hands. This needs one of those "your argument is invalid" macros or something. Just too much awesome in one jacket.

dropsnap-29-01-10
still desperately trying to get the boys in here!So there's a theme going on in this boy's outfit. an the theme is circles...and why not! Circles on his knees and circles on his tshirt. I like it. Also like the strange sort of gathering going on around his "knee circles"

dropsnap-26-01-10(is this Amo? can someone confirm that?)
there's still a little cute loving person inside me despite leaving the more "kawaii" styles behind, an this is how i would show that. I love this girls beautiful nude tone skirt an how it's toughened up with the jacket-something i normally dislike. Also the little heart bag is lovely, not too showey an just cute enough.

dropsnap-26-12-9
this big scarf thing is something i'm seeing more of an want to get on board with. Big big long shawls.and it looks like she's layered them here, the colours work so nicely together an the different lengths make it really interesting. Also I really like that she's making dungerees look good.something i've never seen before!

dropsnap-24-01-10 two
more grimoire styled girls.I love the flashes of gold that help break up the deep colours. Also those strange tassels a couple of styles seem to favor are starting to grow on me. As well as that, i've always been into interesting stockings, does anyone know where these girls get their intricate an beautiful tights from?

dropsnap-24-01-10
i like this because it reminds me of morigirl but in a more high street friendly way. I love the shape of the skirt, that slight flare it has is a nice touch, an the little flashes of red really bring it together.

dropsnap-22-01-10
what is on her feet??? i love them!it..them...they're amazing! draping on your feet, draping FLEECE on your feet. I'm all for it. brilliant. Also i think that flash of blue on her tights is really nice an gives it a good bit of character.

dropsnap-21-01-10
so this is nice, this is very similar to what i'm wearing right now! But i don't have the forward thinking to make glove minders look like an interesting feature of what i'm wearing!i love the asymettrical hems all over the place here and those great gold boots.

dropsnap-20-12-09 two
so here we go, the fur thing. Fox stoles, from what i can tell, are huge in japan, i'm not good enough to be able to tell through my screen which are real and which are not but I do love them all. This one is one of my favourites i've seen. I LOVE how it's chewing its foot in order to stay on, i think that's a great detail an so cute.I also love how the natural colours compliment her pastel tones and natural almost foresty vibe.

dropsnap-20-12-09
an amazing more ott mori girl here.I actually really like how top heavy this is. I like the tendrils of curling wooly lace coming down the side and off her jacket.

dropsnap-19-12-09
another really beautiful fox stole here. I love how different these two styles are! The girl on theleft looks like she's trying to channel some sort of nomadic shape in her clothing with the woolen shawl an tabi boots but with modern prints. I think it's really interesting. And on the right it's like a sort of toned down grimoire look due to the deep colours she's wearing an pretty tapestry bag.

dropsnap-2-11-09
great shapes in this one. I love how everything is just a little bulky. The tail on her fox, the bottom of her bag, her chunky cardigan-which has such a nice drape to it i must say!, an even her skirt. It's really relaxed and comfortable looking but still interesting.

dropsnap-17-01-10
this one actually reminds me of my friend's characters that she draws and makes stories about. They remind me of spacemen an that's why i like this outfit. It reminds me of space.A futuristic version of casual. I like the odd layering of the tops an the washed out illustration on the top layer. I like how the silvery blue trousers also look washed out. It makes the whole thing look a bit aged but in a good way and the pompoms and stud type pattern on the trouser cuffs make it more "new".

dropsnap-17-01-10 three
now i'm not a fan of leopard print, but i like it here. I like how it's baggy but printed onto a knit. It's not something i've seen before. Also really like the ribbing on the sleeves of his cardigan

dropsnap-17-01-10 two
i really love this outfit. It's just so relaxed. I included the bigger detail so you can see the different coloured buttons of her cardigan. I think it's a really nice detail. Also this growing trend for hiking style boots is great, they look so comfortable!

dropsnap-13-01-10
this is a look i tried myself an it just didn't work on me. However this girl is nailing it. Rolled up jeans under a long skirt, it's odd but it works.it looks cozy an comfy an adds an extra interesting layer by having the jeans like that.

dropsnap-05-01-10
such a cute fox. I don't think this one is real because its ears are pointed in a funny angle.I think the ginger tones of the fox work wonderfully with the colour of his hair and jacket. I also really like the length of his trousers showing off his white socks. It makes it seem sort of school boyish.

dropsnap-9.2.10
beautiful staff of the grimoire store i believe.I never knew patchwork could look so good! And another thing, if you had told me someone could look good wearing wooly leggings an high heels i wouldn't have believed you-until now

dropsnap-9-2-10
probably my favourite man in his whole post. His waistcoat reminds me of these dresses I've seen printed with explosions (Christopher Kane?i consume prints so i often forget who made what)I love the fit of his trousers and how big they make his shoes look

dropsnap-8-2-10
this is like a morigirl off duty look..if morigirls actually appeared to have jobs. It's very "i just chucked on all my boyfriend's clothes" an i think there's something nice about that.

dropsnap-6-2-10
there's so much going on here. I think it's on the brink of not working but just about makes it. I love the long bloomers, they're sort of unexpected but look good with the tabi boots. Also i love how the pattern on the scarf adds to the way she's wearing it. Never seen that before an if i had a scarf that nice i would definately try this.

dropsnap-31-12-10
so if you look closely you can see how the girl is wearing jeans with knees made from a different material. I really like that, the textures look great together. As well as that I love the effect their baggy jumpers have on their shoulders when paired with chunky scarves, it creates an interesting shape.

dropsnap-30-1-10
ok..wow...can we all go be fluffy inuits in a big city please? this man just looks amazing!Like some sort of snow storm trooper.

dropsnap-1-2-10
ah there's that shape i like so much, big on  top with skinny legs (you can see this in my illustrations actually haha) love the limited colour pallete and how all the shades of grey work together and get darker towards the bottom.

facehunter-TAIPEI - east district & ximending, 10.25-26.09
those tights, oh how i want them! i love how her jacket also has a fading tonal effect an the colours of her jacket an tights are mirrored in her top's detail.

facehunter-VOGUE NIPPON - november issue (5)
great boots. So slick an probably rather useful if that's her bike.I love the toughness of the leather in her boots an shorts against the big ruffles on her top.

facehunter-STOCKHOLM - nicole, götgatsbacken, 12.29.09
wow i didn't realise i'd posted two lots of over the knee boots one after the other. This isn't a trend i'm overly sure about but i like these wedges. I like the stony colour of them anhow they could almost be trousers, what i mean is i like how they aren't obviously boots.I think they really help to bring together all the layers she has on on the top half of her body.

facehunter-SEOUL - sinsa dong + dazed & confused korea night + hongik university, 10.20-22.09
ooo we love a bit of draping an that is a rather lovely jacket indeed. Also very nice hair, its simplicity definately suits his look here

facehunter-RIO DE JANEIRO - copacabana & lagoa rodrigo de freitas, 12.14.09
ok..i wish i was able to wear this kind of thing in december...i'm gunna be in Rio in May, i dread to think how warm it will be then! (suchalie, i can't bloody wait!) Those shoes-which i am going to say are jeffrey campbell but please correct me if i'm wrong, are amazing, i love how they really are the focal point of this outfit.

facehunter-PARIS - fashion week ss 10, days 4&5, all black, 10.03-04.09
always really like to see outfits with many shades of black in that are still interesting. That big perspex necklace really is amazing but manages to remain just subtle enough

facehunter-PARIS - fashion week ss 10, days 5&6, 10.04-05.09
more men in shorts this length with nice long socks and knitwear please! This may only be me but i love a man in a good chunky bit of knit (if it is partly to steal it) an this cardigan is one of the nicest pieces i've seen a man wearing.

facehunter-PARIS - men's fashion week aw 10.11, day 3, 01.23.10
just so lovely an well put together. It all looks so posh an yet vintage an chic an interesting! It's almost got a supply teacher vibe but i like it!

facehunter-PARIS - fashion week ss 10, bonus 1
so there's a difference between slouchy and draped and I think this would be slouchy. It's relaxed but still good for a working day. That jacket is so simple but has such a good shape to it an i love his sack style bag.

facehunter-MELBOURNE - 1000 pound bend + sorry grandma + limedrop opening + arnsdorf pop-up store opening, 11.19-23.09
love carefree looking girls like this. Those high waisted jeans are great, i love how they flatter her curves an also give a kind of working man's retro feel to her outfit.

facehunter-LONDON - flower market & brick lane market, 01.17.10
now here's a really incredible fox. I'd love one like this.  I love all the patterns on its fur. She looks really lovely, grown up an relaxed. It looks sort of thrown together but thought out all at once. The blue jumper is just enough colour to keep it a little bit more luxe an away from a rather formal look.

facehunter-LONDON - angela, noel street, 01.13.10
ugh this hair trend. I love it an oh god do i want a piece of it! A cape like this is precisely what i want. I love the shape it makes and how it mixes in with her hair. Also really love the long shapes she has on but the hat makes it a bitmore fun an less somber.

facehunter-BANGKOK - demo & central world, 10.29.09
such a cute an pretty jumpsuit! It reminds me of one of those old school clowns and marionettes. i love how her shoes match perfectly.

facehunter-AUCKLAND - karangahaperd road & high street, 11.24-25.09
now this is a funny one for me to go for as it's got a real posh girl feel to it an that's not me at all. however there's something interesting about the colours she's wearing all at once. They are all working, they are all subtle shades i think due in part to the fabric the pieces are made of an she's created a really nice easy summery look.

facehunter-LONDON - alex, great marlborough street, 02.17.10
I picked this one because it's got a real london vintage feel to it. It's not pretentious just fun an interesting.I love the burgundy shade of the dropwaist dress an how she's made it more structured with the short blazer but still kept the colours toned down.

facehunter-COPENHAGEN - fashion week aw 10, fiona jane, day 2, 02.11.10
An i'll leave you with this leggy blonde. If you only notice one thing about this model i think it should be this-she is wearing tassels around her neck-now there's a trend i didn't think i'd ever see out of japan!
