Wind Ensemble:
As of today, I am the 5th chair wind ensemble clarinet player.
Of the three years I've been at Overton,
it's my first time making it to that level.
I feel nervous about the upcoming step of music technicality,
but I'm definitely willing to work my ass off to survive.
So, basically I am 5th chair out of about 25-30.
Yay for me!

All West:
All West tryouts had an interesting story to say the least.
I got to Colleirville HS last minute,
so I had to run in without warming up even one note.
For those of you who don't know,
that's like suicide for musical tryouts.
Then when I got to the sign in desk,
the dude told me to go left...
turns out.. I was supposed to go right.
SO, I got to my tryout really late
and was almost in tears because I thought they would turn me away.
However, they did let me take my tryout and it was pretty ok.
My prepared peices went smoothly (1-2 mistakes),
the scales/chromatic were good (probably 1 mistake)
and my sightreading, for the first time, sounded great!

As I walked out I ran into Mr. Piecuch, my band director,
and he congratulated me on my latest graded tape,
saying that he was very proud of me.
Then, I ran into my old band director, Mr. Ayers.
Every time I see him I get really jittery,
so it was slightly awkward,
but I was glad to get to see him, he's a very respectable man.

New Private Lesson Teacher:
My new lesson teacher is Carina Washington.
She charges $20 a lesson, which is $5 more than with my last director,
but she's a very efficient teacher for me.
Today she took me through my scales and had me switching up rhythms.
She taught me some basic caretaking skills for my clarinet
and took me through a Etude that I think sounds really pretty.
I'm excited to see how much I improve through this lady,
I think she'll mark a turning point for me. :)

So,
overall, things are looking great.
I have challenges ahead of me,
but I'm willing to do the work.
