ee teuk breathes in once and it cuts through the air like a knife. he chokes, sits up and wonders why these dreams keep coming back. he keeps getting caught, keeps getting pulled down into a spiral and he'd much rather stay up forever than feel the cold sweat drop slide down his temple, swirling down toward his jaw and dropping off at his chin. his fingers move back through his hair and he looks over toward the phone on his bedside table. he snatches it up, stopping the vibrations on the desk abruptly. shaking fingers press the call button and he feels dizzy when he hears the relieved sigh on the other end.
"hyung," a pause, two voices whispering on the other line and ee teuk lays back, eyes closing as he wills himself to relax. "are you okay?"
"yeah," ee teuk lies, looking at the empty space around him and swallowing back hard, the fingernails of his left hand digging into his palm. "tell me what you two did today," he speaks, barely above a whisper. the chatter of the younger boys brings a smile to his lips and the warmth spreads throughout his body, radiating him with the heat he missed so much.
"hey, jung su hyung, can we do what we did last night," a voice asks apprehensively and ee teuk nearly cries but agrees anyway, placing the phone on the pillow by his head(curling up directly in the middle of the bed). he closes his eyes and smiles at the thought of a tiny phone substituting for his body between two equally torn boys. he almost doesn't feel so empty anymore.
it all started because of a simple suggestion- no one could remember who suggested it, of course. the three were sitting on dong hae's bed, faces flushed with feeling(and too much soju). ee teuk went for shi won first, tangling their tongues as warm breath brushed across the nape of his neck, fingers sliding up under his shirt from behind, coaxing out whimpers and moans and something more than ee teuk had ever felt. he thought his skin was going to catch on fire when the shirt was removed from his body and two sets of hands danced over his skin, mapping out very curve- tracing over ribs and pushing through to ee teuk's heartstrings. he could feel himself coming undone, fingers curling around shi won's neck and gripping as he watched the two boys kiss.
it wasn't like the usual morning after story- nobody left and nobody regretted anything. they just laughed and pushed themselves that much closer together(dong hae's forehead against the back of shi won's shoulder blades, ee teuk's cheek against shi won's chest- fingers twined with dong hae's). it just felt right.
maybe he's being selfish but ever since that day, ee teuk hasn't been able to feel at home without both of them at his side.
dong hae cuts out stars and tapes them on the calendar for every day he has to spend without ee teuk. sure china is fun. sure he's laughed and played, danced and sang but something is missing, someone is missing. part of his body is missing. shi won smiles and kisses his shoulder.
"why stars?"
"don't you know ee teuk's dimple is the little dipper in disguise?"
"hey, hyung," dong hae murmurs from his sprawled out position on ee teuk's stomach, cutting pictures out of magazines with concentration etched across his face.
"hey, dong hae," the older man teases, taking the pictures after dong hae hands them to him, looking over them before stacking them neatly on the floor by his head.
"i think i love you," he says as he cuts out a picture of a dog with eyes that seem too big for his head. "and shi won. you both make me think i know what love is."
"i love you too," ee teuk gives a dimpled smile as he takes the cut out from dong hae's hands, shaking his head at it before putting it in the pile as well. "how do you think shi won is doing in thailand?"
"i bet he's confused."
"i think he misses us too," ee teuk whispers and dong hae hums in agreement. "how do we end up being the only ones that decide not to go out on a saturday night?"
"we don't function without him."
later, they spell out shi won's name with the magazine clippings, taping it to a large piece of neon orange poster board. although it is atrocious and messy and everything that shi won usually stands against, he always keeps it with him- no matter how far away he has to go.
fingernails drag over his hip bones as a tongue traces down his spine, shi won's head tilts back and he lets out a shaky breath. dong hae is there to support him from behind, pushing his hands up and over the muscular chest, lips working over his neck as ee teuk peers up at him through heavy lashes, swallowing him whole. dong hae mutters a simple command in his ear and he goes rigid, blacking out for a moment.
when his eyes open, dong hae's ankles are on either side of ee teuk's head as the latter thrusts in and out of him quickly and shi won wishes he would've never closed his eyes for a second. he wills himself over on his side, tugging dong hae's cock and leaning over, licking the shell of his ear, "come."
everything fades to white.
ee teuk cuddles into the space between kang in's arms but it doesn't feel the same because he doesn't have four hands or two sets of warm brown eyes or-
"they'll be home soon," the younger man says with a shrug, patting ee teuk's knee as he picks at the threads of dong hae's sweatshirt and decides that he's probably wearing it too much. shi won isn't really one to leave clothes on the floor, so it's not like he could alternate sweatshirts every other day.
"is it possible to love two people so deeply that it makes your heart ache, kang in-ah?"
"you love the rest of us like brothers, right?" ee teuk doesn't exactly know what he's getting at, but he nods anyway. "so, it's basically the same thing- but not exactly. whatever. it's possible," kang in reasons and ee teuk decides that the answer should be enough for him even though something in his chest tells him that it isn't.
"maybe we shouldn't do this anymore."
"what are you talking about," dong hae laughs and shi won makes a face at the phone.
"just... i miss you two so much and i don't think it's fair."
"don't cry."
"don't say things you don't mean, hyung..."
silence.
"just two more days, then the three musketeers will be back in business."
"all for- one for all... something."
"moment ruiner."
ee teuk laughs through his tears and dong hae leans his head against shi won's shoulder.
"hyung, i look stupid," shi won whines and ee teuk makes a 'tsk' sound in the back of his throat. dong hae giggles and hands him another hair clip.
"you said beautiful wrong. it's not pronounced 'stupid'," dong hae corrects him and ee teuk snorts, brushing the high unamused man's hair away from his face, pinning it back with the purple butterfly clip of choice. his hair is decorated with a variety of hair clips and pins with pigtails sticking out on either side of his head. "you're a pretty fairy with enormous eyebrows," he finishes with a smile, then furrows his eyebrows to try to copy shi won's facial expression.
"i really look stupid. my image is ruined. how did i let you two talk me in to this? i've never felt more betrayed," he continues on with his whining, making dramatic hand gestures(which ee teuk mimics behind his back).
dong hae takes a polaroid of that day, capturing shi won's disgruntled mood as ee teuk kissed his cheek. after that, shi won chases both of them around the dorm in a frenzy, but he never manages to take away their masterpiece.
("what's that," ryeo wook asks, pointing to the photograph tacked to the wall above dong hae's bed. "shi won looks- and ee teuk..."
"beautiful," he doesn't hesitate to answer- and it's okay if ryeo wook doesn't understand it. he smiles and tilts his head back in order to look at the picture upside down. "if you look close enough you can see the little dipper.")
