I gardened today. Dug up my beds, de-weeded, spread around some steer manure/compost/peat moss, chopped up the chunks, and smoothed 'em out. Yup. Apparently the safe date for tomatoes is May something, so I am doing well. But I did seed my eventual sun perennial garden. It is in what used to be a sandbox, overlooking the whole HOBO SPIDERS LIKE HOT THINGS bit. So I put some extra dirt in there, and some delphiniums, gloriosas, gailliardias, shastas, painted daisies, echinacea, yarrow, some other things I can't remember like ascelpia or something, and ONE marionberry because they only had one at Zamzow's and I couldn't resist it as it was $8.99 down from 12. And a phlox. So most of those are seeds, the few plants out of the bundle had better not take over! And a black-eyed Susan. My 'I hope it works this year dammit' sunflower bed was in a few days ago, as were the butternut squash and peas, but no bits up yet. If J ever lets me take out those useless stupid evergreen bushes back there I could put in some blueberries...maybe. Not sure if they're sun or shade, they'd need to be part-full shade and I think they're shade. Still haven't got any forsythia, don't really have a spot. May put in another raised bed next to pseudo sandbox.
