I'm trying to assemble a set of quotes for AAW to use when writing letters to the media, and I hope it's okay that I'll be using great swathes of your stuff! Because you don't just have the historical know-how, you have the perspective.
Oh man, creating a visual comparison between Euro-fantasy and Avatar would be....oh so very pretty, but probably still not hammer the point home to people who are STILL saying "But Aang looks white!" ARGH. I JUST. ARGH. Still, I should try and entice a YouTuber to create one. ;D
When Bryan and Mike do everything to make this show and world and people Asian (-American-ish), short of slapping blinking signs saying "AZN" on them and plastering them with yellowface caricatures, and people still go "THEY'RE TOTALLY WHITE," I'm thinking there's just no helping those ones.

It's totally okay! Just make sure to look over them for spellos and grammatical weirdness. I do that with alarming frequency -_-
You know, I wish the people defending the cast had like ONE argument and stuck to it. I don't mean that I wish they all had the same reason (well, that would make things easier) but it's like when you argue with just one of them, and you debunk their point, then they make it about something else.
"They don't look Asian!"
[point about designing for animation and outdated presumptions of what it is to 'look Asian']
"Well they're not IN Asia!"
[point about cultural accuracy even in a fantasy production and how this affects the whole visual language of the show]
"Well that doesn't mean they can't be played by Caucasians!"
[point about yellow/brownface and how historically rife and offensive it is]
"Well you can't exclude white people from casting!"
[point about how casting calls do it ALL the time if they're casting for a particular race which, as covered, they ought to be]
