Study Abroad Plan
I will be traveling to Mongolia during the Spring quarter of 2008 to study human rights there. I will be working with the Alliance for Human Rights organization, helping them draft applications for grants to support their various social programs. I am trying to learn some basic Mongolian though pronunciation is proving to be a nightmare. I accept that I will probably sound like an idiot. During this 8-week stay, I will maintain a travel journal both personal and online, compose 2 papers on topics of my choosing, and when I return I will present my experiences for the Study Abroad Exhibition at Evergreen.
While I am there I am hoping to visit the various Ger districts and to travel out into the countryside, so as to get a thorough understanding of both lifestyles as they do differ quite a bit. I am also committing myself to trying every food and drink item presented to me unless it poses a direct threat to my health (the things I hear about Russian vodka...) I will also ride a camel. Other than that I am really open-minded to whatever experiences present themselves and whatever adventures I will find myself on.
