so... I have got the following bullshit to deal with:
- my bosses (i have two) appreciate my work, but do not understand the full contributions i am making to IT;
- one boss (the Boss Lady) wants me to post some "quick wins";
- the other boss (the Boss Man) has a better understanding of what i do, but when the fit hits the shan, defers to the Boss Lady.
I am up shit creek. we had a network / IT infrastructure here that before my arrival was
a) wide-open (you could login to machines and hit the Administrator login without a password);
b) no verifiable redundancy (we had backups but no one verified the integrity of the backups);
c) no monitoring of services;
d) no process / policy regarding purchasing or user management or anything of the sort;
e) no planning, no leadership, nada.
so i come in and turnaround a-e. not overnight, but certainly within 6 months.
and so i asked for a raise. i submitted two salary surveys -- one accurate to my current job description, and one accurate to the job i'm currently doing. both surveys had $ amounts greater than my current salary.
the result was a big fat "maybe."
time to go hunting again.
