JAKE!
I'm fairly sure I haven't seen my friend Jake since college, probably not since 2000 or earlier. He was someone I hung out with during high school, who didn't go to school with me, and I spent lots of time with at the fair. It was great catching up with him after all these years and finding we still have the same things in common we always did. Like other friends I haven't seen for years who have come back into my life recently, hanging out didn't seem strange at all and we picked up right where we left off all those years ago.
Jake currently lives in Los Angeles after a six year stint in Las Vegas where he worked for one of the Cirque companies (there are several there). He was in the Seattle area for an interview/try-out for a Mount Rainier guiding job that would happen in the summer. In LA he's a stagehand and very close to being a full-fledged union member. Like me, he's been around quite a bit since college including stints in San Francisco and Pennsylvania. I also caught up on some of his family news and caught him up on my history since 2001. That'a a lot of life to discuss.
We went up to Elliott Bay in LCW for dinner and were later met by Chris and Barry. It was completely packed when we arrived - probably not at all unusual for a Saturday evening. It's exactly when I never go places because I'm always working so it came as an unpleasant surprise.
Jake's staying here tonight and we're going to spend the day around Seattle tomorrow. It's been quite a while since I've had visitors to take around, and I've never had my own car to be a proper guide. Perfect weather is being predicted so I expect to have a big day ahead.
