Sometimes You Just Can’t Sleep

I’m not sure if I can ever remember sleeping this inconsistently. Between the sickness, the overindulgence in coffee, the shouldn’t-be-an-issue jet leg, the variety of beds, and probably much more than any of those - the lack of consistent strenuous exercise, I have had very few nights of straight-eight sleep. Last night was the worst yet. I may have dozed a total of 15 minute, but I don’t think I did. I tossed and turned. I went from futon to couch to bedroom back to futon back to couch. None of those worked. Eventually the sun came up and the parents woke up so I thought I might as well make the best of it and follow suit.

I got in some morning Wii Fit time as well as breakfast. Kimberly called me in the morning and suggested coffee at noon. I met her and Katrina in Portland at Cheeky Monkeys. They were lunching, I just had coffee and a cookie. We chatted for a while before playing a few games of Sequence. Sophie and Amelia had their first day back to school today so Kimberly left in the middle of our game to pick them up. In total we were acting as retired folks for two or three house this afternoon.

I came home to nap after we finished, despite being filled with all that caffeine. What I slept was sufficient for me to start planning a trip to Ann Arbor and Detroit for tomorrow and Saturday. I spent a while online asking around and chatting with some friends. It was a quiet night in as a result.

It’s far earlier than any night so far and I’m ready to go to bed and go right to sleep so we can leave earlier enough in the morning to make it to Ann Arbor before noon. So sleepy.
