Iceland redux

Hey!
I'm in Iceland and it's wonderful. Very warm for this time of year. Every morning I pass the graveyard on my way to the city. When I tell people I'm American they say, "ok!" with an emphasis on the k.

I like the way people speak English here. They have Scandinavian accents that remind me of childhood, the way their k's and r's stand out.

Had some fish soup for dinner at Hannis's house, Hannis is my Dad's friend. It was lovely and creamy and I met some French kids and lots of nice Euro people and some cool Americans. We talked about globalization and drank white wine.

Then they served us coffee in little cups next to the lava stones and the gold jewelry their daughter is making. I said "takk fyrir" to the mother-in-law, and she hugged me and said, "Oh, you're an Icelandic girl!"
