hey folks - i'm feeling very relaxed & refreshed after an exhilarating break in the west highlands with TLOML* and his family.
we set off for ardtoe last thursday and even though it was a good 4 hour drive it felt like no time as the scenery en route was so breathtaking. we arrived at the cottage at around 11pm so i didn't get to see much until friday morning. the cottage was delightful with little blue shutters on the windows and a front garden that literally went right down to the sea, where David's dad put his little sailing boat out to moor. we had a very wholesome few days, canoeing, sailing, fishing and generally having a lovely time (don't get me wrong, there was much wine and weed consumed throughout the weekend)
we caught 24 mackerel on the friday night and had them for breakfast for the next couple of days, rolled in oats and fried, then scoffed with lime juice and some very nice coffee. overrall the food was superb and the company was equally fab. the cast was as follows:
Moi (sunburnt; mad uncontrollable hair; ridiculous choice of footwear)
David (*the love of my life)
Rory (school friend of david's; neighbour and friend of mine; cannabis purist)
Gail (David's sister; lovely and quite mad)
Dan (Gail's boyfriend; equally mad and very nice indeed)
Ali (David's mum; provider of lovely food and wry comments; lurvely)
Tony (David's dad; tall ex-marine with booming voice and expansive hat collection;a big softy really)
i really needed a break and ardtoe was the perfect escape from the depressing cycle of edinburgh life (work, sleep, sit on ass, work, sleep etc etc ad nauseum) so i returned feeling very healthy with some lovely photos (I've emailed them to peeps cos i'm completely incapable of putting anything other than inane comments on this thing, and i refuse to ask anyone for help.)
however, if you'd like a wee look you can visit
