SYNTH CITY @ THE TOTE FRIDAY 29TH AUG!!

Aug 28, 2008 15:34

All you synthesiser freaks and hot music nerds, it's time to holster those soldering irons, dig out your piano-key neckties and come bask in the warmth of analog circuitry as the Tote plays host to SYNTH CITY, an all-synth extravanza!!!

This will be an action-packed evening of keyboard-oriented bliss, with a lineup of some of the most scintillating synth operators that this dimension has to offer.

Melbourne prog-rock heroes The Night Terrors will be heading up proceedings, showcasing material from their highly anticipated upcoming album, and employing their theremin gymnastics and multiple synth-bank histrionics to full effect.

Extra special guests for this show, and all the way from Wellington, New Zealand, are analog live electronica act Heat Like Me, who blend the latest in 70's synth technology with a fistful of homebrew electronics. The result is a danceable mix of electro, funk, and rock sensibilities.

Joining them will be local post-punk synth legends The Emergency, whose ultra cool synthetic sounds have been making Melbourne radder since 2001.

And to open up the evening's festivities, three-phase upstarts Commandant Lassard will be assaulting your sensibilities with their own brand of retardedly noisey, heavy as fuck synth and vocoder silliness!

All this plus DJ Tim Picone (Unstable Ape Records) tickling the vinyl between acts.

And if that's not enough to get your pitch benders quivering, the first 100 payers will receive a free CD with tracks from all the bands!

It’s all at The Tote, Friday August 29, $12, 8.30pm.
