Just leave it to the Cedar Rapids Gazette to come up with a totally cheesy caption, ok? ANYWAY, this is the main street in my hometown, folks. The river is 14 feet over flood level at a whopping 24 feet, and expected to rise a few more feet before cresting tomorrow. I checked in with my family a few hours ago and they were all safe and sound, although they have been losing power intermittently and have been asked to conserve drinking water (the city is at 25% of its usual water treatment capacity).

INSANITY!

There is something comforting and warm, though, about being surrounded by those you love in moments of disaster. I'm glad they're all shacked up together in my mom's house, watching the news, listening to the radio, eating beans out of cans. Think good thoughts for them, ok?
