Kathyren made sure
your tears were not spilt
onto a wet floor
waiting
she does what you refuse
It's payday today
What she receives
is little compensation
for the time she spends
You can't acknowledge
she is loyal
despite your disregard
You think you're all alone
She knows what
you can not admit
In the dark night she leaves
to go home
She hardly knows her children
but she loves them, for they are all she has
She watches her children sleep
They are too fragile
to live this life
She begins her second shift
with tears in her eyes
Saying prayers to a god
who will listen
No loved ones to soothe her
she is all alone
he's gone
she's thankful
She rests to satiate the exhaustion
the alarm clock rings
She sets out food for her little ones
writing a note to each
"I love you darling,
I will always love you"
She gets on the bus
unlocks your door
comes to wake you
She finds you on the floor
blood surrounding your body
When you look into her eyes
you find something familiar
a pain you know all to well
Things will change
