Here in what is normally the dark, dreary and dank UK, we're having a heatwave.
Yesterday it was 32 degrees... today is slightly cooler at 30...
It's sunny, there's not a cloud in the sky, it's hot and everyone is out in their summer brights.
I HATE IT!
Being fair skinned, red-haired and sensitive to heat, the summer is my worst nightmare. I over-heat, get sun stroke in minutes, have sunglasses perma-glued to my head and can't think straight. It's 11am, I've been up since 7 after about 5 hours sleep because it was too hot last night and I've already gone through my standard 8 glasses of water - and then some.
I seem to be the only person in the country complaining about the heat (except my best friend D, who is also complaining, but more because his computer's overheating than about the weather itself). At work this morning I'm looking at all the bright red faces, the skimpy tops to avoid rubbing the sunburn and all I can think is 'I'm so glad I stayed in doors yesterday'. I'm sick of people telling me what a lovely weekend it's been when I've been sitting at home with my also over-heated cats, avoiding the sun and feeling cranky because it was too hot to think enough to be creative.
Summer weather? You can keep it. I'm moving to Lapland.
