out of nowhere...

I decided to randomly update my lj as a way of extending my Spring Break procrastination of grading papers. Plus, my monotonous life is about to change, and it's exciting.

I found out earlier this week that I have been accepted to the M.S. Mathematics program at the College of Charleston. It's a good thing too, since that was the only thing I was planning to do after I graduate in May. The director of the program emailed me to give me the news and he also told me that it is "very likely" that I will be awarded an assistantship that I also applied for. The assistantship would mean a part-time job at the University that pays pretty good for the number of hours plus free tuition. This would be very good because I really don't want any more student loans. In fact, I did not even file a FAFSA for next year.

Djboy and I are looking for an apartment a few miles from C of C. I saw several internet listings that look promising, but we probably won't get down there to actually look around until I finish school. I only have 13 more days in hell! I also have to finish my electronic portfolio which I decided not to work on at all over Spring Break. I figured that I deserve to relax now, and I can pull that portfolio out of my ass at the last minute like I usually do. No sense wasting a good Spring Break, I figure. I need my sittin' around time, y'know? Anyway, April 26 is my last day of student teaching and April 28 is my final interview with the education department and then I'm free. Family is coming from Arizona and Texas to see me graduate. They will be here on May 11 and 12, and May 13 I walk across the stage in a cardboard and polyester hat. Woo-hoo! It only took me 12 years to finish my B.S. Oh well, at least I finally finished.

Now to grade those papers...
