Have you played in an LJ based game before? Oh here and there, yeah.
Bonus: How did you hear about Siren's Pull? I was thrown into a travel storm and sent off to the O.Z. While there I had many a great adventures only to be sucked away by a Pull and tossed into this Port :|

☼ Character Information ☼

General
Canon Source: Tin Man
Canon Format: Made in 2007 for SciFi channel. A three part mini series.
Character's Name: Glitch / Ambrose
Character's Age: 42 (not stated in canon so I use the actors age in 2007 as it still works for the character.)

What form will your character's NV take? A simple looking hand sized note book. It’s a black leather, worn looking but new to him journal with the OZ symbol on the front in a faded green. The inside cover (front) is a bit thicker then normal because it has a mini screen, camera and holo projection on it. The page facing that can be written on to produce ‘text’ entries (the ink dissolves into the page and appears on the screen as he goes). All pages after this first page are thinner and made for non connected writing; a simple place for him to keep personal notes that won’t show up on the Network. It comes with a green ink pen. The whole thing looks and feels a little bit dated, almost like a clockwork journal and not advanced technology.

Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Glitch has no super human abilities. There are some oddities to him that might seem like an ability though. For one, he has a zipper in his head and part of his brain missing... and yet he can still function and think. His brain was taken out by a magical process and thus he’s still able to do things but he’s very forgetful and doesn’t remember too much of his past. He was a very smart man and sometimes that man pops out at weird times. Things he does remember at important moments might jump up and spill out of his mouth where other things that are really important might not. Though he has half a brain the actions and memories he produces as he goes along stick around for the most part. Then again sometimes he forgets what happened last week, but any normal human has that problem once in a while...

He’s also a skilled dancer and a pretty good hand to hand fighter. This is to say his fighting style resembles movements from dancing. It’s very surprising to see, but he’s taken on several trained guards in the movie and done so with style. Its possible that he was trained in some form of hand to hand combat, even fencing of some sort, seeing as he was the Queens adviser for so many years, but it’s never stated in canon. It does appear that his talents are muscle memory and possibly a reason he can still fight like he does with out his brain.

Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? With that being said, he really doesn’t have any super abilities. I’d like to play on his ‘Scarecrow’ role from the series a bit with the ability to feel no pain. Or more to the point I’d like him to still feel pain but be able to will it away. A stab to the back would hurt at first, but if he wished it to go away it would stop hurting (the stab would still be there, but not the pain). So like the Scarecrow who couldn't feel pain, Glitch can disconnect the pain.

Continuing with the scarecrow like role, I’d like to consider a faster regeneration of health. For instance if stabbed or cut, the wound would need to be treated like normal. A deep wound would require stitches and time to heal. I’d like him to regenerate at a faster rate but leave scarring as if it healed normally. I don’t want him to ‘regress healing’ as in a cut regenerates back to perfection, but I’d like to leave it more like a scarecrow being re-sewn together. There was something broken and now its sewn back together, healed, but you can see the stitching. That kind of feel.

Tl;dr? He can ‘will’ pain away and has mild self regeneration.

Weapons: He has no weapons but his own dancing feet.

History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History:
Wikipida: Tin Man Plot
Oz Wiki: Tin Man Plot

Since those links are more general plot of the series and not really full of Glitch’s history, I’ll try to give a fast run down of what is know about the man.

Fifteen years before the current time line Glitch was the adviser to the Queen of The Outer Zone (The O.Z.). His name was Ambrose and he was a very intelligent, creative man. He knew the royal family and served to them for many years. Ambrose could be considered a stern man, strict to following the rules and regulations but with a soft spot and a dear smile to him when in private around friends.

Ambrose was an inventor and created a large number of technological advances in the Central city and for the Queen. One such invention was the plans for a Sun Seeder, a machine that was intended to slow the movement of the O.Z.’s two suns and help extend the growing season for crops. When the Queen’s eldest daughter overthrew the Queen, Ambrose destroyed the plans, because they were far too dangerous to let fall into the girl’s hands. The only place they could be found now was in his brain.

Realizing this, Azkadellia, the new Queen of the O.Z. ordered her doctors to remove the brain with a procedure that was normally held for criminals. The procedure puts the person under the knife, has their head opened down the middle and part of their brain removed, sewing it shut with a thick silver zipper. Cain said these people with the zipper heads are called ‘Headcases’ and the procedure is used to help reform criminals and keep them ‘trapped’ inside their own heads. For the longest time Cain believes Glitch is one of these Headcases.

While free to wander the O.Z. He meet with DG and agreed to help her find her family. This agreement spawned a huge adventure very much like the original Wizard of Oz, where Dorothy finds friends (Scarecrow, Tin man, Lion) on the way and goes to defeat a wicked old witch. The story is different of course, much like the links above prove.

Glitches part in the story is that of the Scarecrow. A good friend, who is very kind, loyal, a bit comic relief and despite the lack of brains seems to be pretty smart. While they are on their adventure DG learns that the Queen has taken the Sun Seeder plans and turned it into an Anti-Sun Seeder which will shroud the O.Z. into darkness and let the dark queen rule with more power then before. Upset that his plans form his very own noggin were being used, Glitch agrees to help take down the queen with the others.

While they join a rebellion in progress and get inside, Glitch, Cain and Raw head to the tower that holds the machine that runs the Anti-Sun Seeder. When they enter the room Glitch sees his brain floating in a large clear jar connected to the machine. “I’d know me anywhere!” He said, making way to the brain. Raw, a vision seer connected himself to Glitch and the jar, telepathically trying to read the deactivation code to shut the machine down. Glitch spoke the numbers out loud, letting Cain input them, but they were interrupted.

The medico doctor who took his brain out to begin with stood there, demanding the numbers to reverse the damage done. Glitch refused, so they got another Vision Seer in to try and fix the problem. Glitch tried to scramble the information but it was no use. The doctor was redoing the number code and power was once again regaining to the Anti-Sun Seeder.

It’s at this point that Glitch is being pulled, so he has no idea that they manage to stop the Anti-Sun Seeder, stop the dark witch, save Azkadella and DG and reunite the Queen and her family together again. He’s being pulled before any of that happens!

Point in Canon: Near the end of the series where he, Cain and Raw are looking at the brain of Ambrose (his brain), connected to it, and imputing numbers to shut down the Sun Seeder. Longcoat's have come in and shocked Raw and Cain away and are trying to reverse the code. He’ll be pulled from here, thinking he blacked out and unsure if he failed the O.Z., DG and the rest or not. Thus he will want to find a way to get back.

Character Personality: I’m trying to make this fast and to the point, but as Cain said “You’re a deep well, Glitch.” The man shows a large range of emotions and abilities. He’s happy; he’s sad, he can get angry and depressed, scared, frustrated and can even love. He’s prideful too, telling Cain that he’s not a convict... and even if he was he must have been wrongly accused and framed. He’s sure of this. Why? Because he just knows he’s not a bad kind of person, even when he can’t remember much at all about himself he’s just that prideful to know what he isn’t.

Because of the lack of brains he is easily confused and distracted, managing to wander off in the wrong direction all the time even though he was just told where they were going. He can be thinking of one thing and wander off on a completely different subject in one blink of a second. He can also be persuaded into doing really stupid things by others if they know how to talk him into it. When his courage is down a little pep talk can wake him right up and get him raring to go.

Generally he’s optimistic but he has shown his pessimistic side to things. He smiles a lot and has no problem telling some people (like Cain) to take the stick out of their butt. This is a good contract to how he was as Ambrose, strict and abiding by the rules kind of fellow. He likes jokes but doesn’t like being the butt of them. He can be charming in that kind of strange goofy sort of way. He’s easily offended by some people but tends to get over the offense incredibly fast; especially of the offender says something soothing right after.

He likes simple things, good witches, friends, honesty, adventure, tea and a good story. To the contract he dislikes people treating him as if her were simple, dark witches, doctors, liars, tiring adventure, coffee and horror stories (though he knows a few good ones).

Glitch on his friends:
DG - He finds her to be charming, enchanting, and really gutsy. There was something about her that instantly clicked with him (unknown to him he knew her as a child). She’s smart, strong, loyal and courageous, all of which he himself either was or wishes to be again. The longer he traveled with her the stronger his loyal bounds tied with her. He wanted to make sure to see this adventure to the end and help her stop her sister from destroying the O.Z. He’d do anything for her, much like he would have for her mother, the Queen.

Cain - Oh this man frustrates him so much. He thinks he’s brutish, grumpy, moody, annoying, and in general... a real stuck up the butt kind of guy. He also grew fond of the Tin Man as the adventure went on. He understands that the mans family might have been killed by the man who trapped him for 10 years, sure, but “Have a little heart!” Through all the bickering and being made to feel inferior by Cain, Glitch is still very loyal to him and considers him as friend a well. He’s even saved his life once.

Raw - Despite not liking him much to begin with Glitch finds that even Raw grows on you. He thinks the Lion-man vision seer is a gentle kind of fellow who is brave and courageous, even if he seems like he’s a coward. There are a number of times that Raw displaces such courage that just astounds Glitch. The two of them really don’t have any problems together. He’s glad to know the fellow.

Tutor - The shape shifter helped them break DG out of the tower, and Glitch was the first to step up and defend the helpful fellow where the others weren’t... but he’s always had mixed feelings over the betrayal the man-dog threw over them. Shocked, seriously shocked that the man would do such a thing, he nearly stood beside himself as he recalculated his thoughts on the shifter. In the end the shifter came back to help them and never really betrayed them as badly as one might think, but at the point that Glitch is pulled from he still is a little off on Tutor.

Character Plans: I haven’t too many preplanned plans for him other then wanting to use him to troll around, talk to others and be friendly, derpy and Glitchy to people. I’d like him to struggle with the fact that he doesn’t know what happened to his friends or if he managed to help out in the end or not. He’ll worry over that and really want to get home. He might buy into the SERO thing and see if they can figure out a way to get him home. After all, he was once a smart man, and those memories are still in him somewhere, they just are fractured.

I’d like him to get a job somewhere but I’m unsure of where yet. I’m hoping people would like to work with him on that one. And I’d like him to find a room mate instead of a place on his own because... I have the feeling he doesn’t do well alone. I’d loooove for him to find a small group of friends to run around with.

Appearance/PB: Alen Cummings plays Glitch in the movie.
Image found HERE.

He has dark wild hair that’s curled in strange twists and sticking out on either side. There is a thick silver zipper running from front to back of his head where the Queen had her doctors take his brain out. He wears layers and layers o clothing, all old tatters from his royal adviser days as well as some added in clothing as the years went by. A black and red striped under shirt, a dingy white dress shirt missing a few buttons, one brocade loose vest, brown frayed pants with holes and tears, dirty brown worn old boots that were once dress shoes, and one large, ripped brown and yellow Napoleonic-style coat that has seen better days.

Writing Samples

First Person Sample
[There is a video of a dark haired man with a strange silver zipper down the center of his head. He looks a little agitated as he stares at the video, his hand running over the top of his head as if checking himself, then fixing his very torn jacket in front]

So.. I just talk to it? [There’s the sound of someone in the distance but you can’t make out what they are saying.] Like thi-Oh! Yes yes, I do see now. So it works a bit like a T.D.E.S.P.H.T.L.? I-Oh... [the person in the distance sounds further away, a door closes before he says:] yes, I see, thank you.

[Looking to the screen again the man tilted his head] She said I could contact people with this. Hello? DG? Cain? Raw? Are any of you here?

[There’s a pause, and the man looks more frustrated now then anything.]

This really isn’t the O.Z. is it?

Third Person Sample
The world seemed to spin forever as he came to a tumbling crash. He had rolled head over end, over feet, over head again until he landed in the far right side of a very strange field of dirt and grass. The wind knocked out of him he lay there in tall un-kept grass that felt a bit withered and dry, scratching across his pale cheek. With his eyes closed he took a moment to try and get his bearings to him.

Think! the little voice in the back of his half mind spoke out clearing in the empty space. Think about what just happened! You are there! You’re right there in a jar. Raw was-No, they took Raw out. Cain! They took him out as well. That little one was there.-NO! Quick, scramble your thoughts. Flowers are pretty. Lavender is a really nice color. Cain can be a real pain in the-wait. Something’s wrong...

His eyes snapped open, his thoughts stopping as he stared up into the gray sky above him. Wasn’t he just inside the tower a moment ago? Did they fling him out a window?! “Oh!” He sat up so suddenly, hands grabbing to check every part of his body. Arms aren’t broken, torso seems alright. Legs? Check. Noggin? his hands at last reached up to the top of his head, patting it down and reaching for a half opened zipper, pulling it back to shut his head up tight. Still there. He thought, frowning.

This was indeed strange. He was outside in the grass, but he was unharmed. Furthermore the tower... wasn’t insight, was it? This realization made him stand up so suddenly that he popped up, stumbled, wiggled around on his feet a moment, tripping over one foot until finally he managed to get a hold of balance once more. Swiftly looking around he saw no ominous looming gray tower of doom, nor did he see the huge pipes that should be at ground level, or the long coat, or the rebels or...

“Where... am I?” He said to himself, a hand running over the top of his head while he tried to think. “This doesn’t look like The O.Z. anymore...” ...This isn’t right at all. I should be at the tower still. What happened? Mmmm Glitch! Did you screw this one up?! What happene-- “Ahh!”

He had turned around just in time to see a young woman with blond hair an a very long sword at her side. Even the Longcoat’s stopped using swords... he thought to himself. However his mouth opened to speak something quite different. “Geeze Dollface! Give a man some warning next time! You practically scared me right out of my zipper!”

Composing himself, his hands reaching up to give a tug of his coat, making it rest properly in the shoulders once again (even if the shoulders were practically missing), he looked over the blond and decided that... yep, he had no idea who this was. Thankfully the girl decided it was time to speak up and clue him in. After a few misfired synapses and repeated introductions, as well as two distracted conversations and walking in the wrong direction, (not to mention the poor Greeter had to repeat it all to him again because he lost some information) he was at last given a room to stay in and answers.

Answers that just didn’t make sense at all. This wasn’t the O.Z.? It’s the other world! the one where DG came from. Where Ahamo and Dorothy and the Mystic Man and countless others from the O.Z. came from! Had the witches Longcoat’s thrown him into a Travel Storm? That... explains everything!

It explained everything and yet none of it made sense.
