A question of Romance

Nov 16, 2009 21:30

Leah asked this question on her wall on Facebook:

"What's the most romantic thing that anyone has ever done for or with you?"

and I read this as one of her answers from Marcus. Blush.

For romance that can’t be topped
I know the woman that can’t be stopped

I had a fortieth birthday that
began with the gift of a great top hat

But we didn’t tarry and stroke it’s cloth
I really needed to show it off

We needed a place to saunter about
Without the company of bogan or lout

The ballet was the place to be
Drinking champagne in polite company

Perceiving beauty in sinuous forms
We’d already exceeded the romantic norms

We really were an incredible sight
But it was just a whetting of our appetites

For what followed next I am shy to relate
But it involved placing things in my mouth from a plate

Japanese treats are sublime and uplifting
Hot sake sent my sobriety shifting

Iam had sent me into dream land
As after dinner we went hand in hand

And drove to a place in a mountainous realm
The night was a ship and she had the helm

But the ship turned into kind of a tub
Where you sit in hot water and get a neck rub

And stare through the night at the lights of the city
And drink more champagne and say things that are witty

The knowledge of what happened next is restricted
If I said it from facebook I would be evicted

More politely put, after a night of romance
We awoke to watch the cockatoos dance

The night I had is without equal
In future I’ll strive to give Iam it’s sequel
