When she was a little girl, Diamond and her brothers had often liked to pretend that they were the fiercest corsairs to ever ravage the coastline of the Great Sea. As pretend 'corsair captain,' Diamond stole many a treasure. When she played the corsairs' unfortunate 'victim' instead, her brothers made her walk many a pretend plank and swim her way to a many a dire, pretend 'desert island.' Being a hobbit, her first thought of what she should have with her on the desert island was, naturally, food. No self-respecting hobbit would ever be stranded anywhere without food. Second, of course, was water, both for drinking and making tea, but also so that she could take a bath. Deserted by corsairs or no, she would be clean. Finally, she would take along her fiddle. That way, for so long as she was stranded on the island, she could entertain herself with music! Her brothers always thought that her version of the desert island game was a bit boring, but they indulged her anyway by pretending to be fierce desert island beasts. She would 'tame' them with her fiddle music and make them dance a jig, and then they would all sit down to a nice cut of tea.
