How do you handle confrontations?

Hobbits as a whole don't tend to get into confrontations very often. There's usually no problem or misunderstanding so serious that it can't be worked out over a cup of tea and a slice of cake! Talking through things and seeing both sides of things is the very best way to deal with a problem. That even works in a family full of mischievous and willful Tooks! There have been occasions in my dealings with the other beings who live in Middle Earth when I've had to be a bit more firm and direct to be sure that they understood my point. There are some who don't take hobbits very seriously because we are smaller than they are. They think that they can bully us and force us to do what they want. I think that we showed them in the last war that hobbits will use force when reason and courtesy fail. Personally, I would regret ever having to take up arms against any other living thing. I can't imagine doing it, unless someone was to threaten my loved ones. In that case, I'd do whatever I had to do. Why, if I found someone threatening my wee baby with violence, I would kill them, just like that and have no regrets afterwards.
