OK, it's official.
I hate writing. And I HATE WRITING GRANT BUDGETS even more. Oh, and I hate hate hate Excel. So there.
I had a day of frustration and confusion with only minor moments of feeling like I got something positive done. I'm exhausted and cranky.
I did, however, manage to cook myself a really nice, healthy dinner when I got home tonight. G's gone off to R-fort for the weekend, so I took the opportunity to do some more experimental cooking. Continuing on my quest to master some Ethiopian recipes, I cooked some scorchin' hot vegetable alicha (basically a cabbage, potato and onion stew) and doro wot (a chicken stew with red pepper sauce made with berbere spice) for dinner tonight, along with a new batch of injera. I've made these dishes before and wanted to try again to see if I could make them better.
The doro wot came out well, possibly better than last time, although I think I used too much wine. Although the alicha isn't usually a spicy dish, I added some mit'mit'a powder, which is a blend of ground serrano peppers, cardamom and clove. Heavy on the serrano. I used this stuff last time I made it, but I think I put more in this time. Wow...I think I saw Jesus. I had to add some plain yogurt on top to cool it down (which was yummy too). It had that "so hot but so yummy I can't stop eating it" quality, so I'll be subjecting myself to leftovers (of which I have plenty) tomorrow with enthusiasm. It definitely cleared out my allergy-ridden sinuses, that's for sure.
