Hello! This seemed like an interesting challenge so here it goes. A house tour, or in my case, an apartment tour. First, a NOT-drawn-to-scale floor plan, I'm no architect, haha. Green brackets are windows. Pink things are doors. We start from the big arrow which is the entrance to the apartment. Oh, and photos are taken in wide-angle, so I don't know... rooms look smaller than they are? or bigger?
So first we are greeted with the Dining Room. Weird how the main entrance leads to the Dining Room? Well, because, originally, this was the living room. The room further off, now marked as living room, was part of the open-top verandah. Mom decided we didn't have enough space to closed off part of the verandah so we could have an extra room. So, the main entrance leads to the Dining Room. We go further in, and that's the living room. Everything's messy and upside down because we have no visitors LOL. If and when there are visitors, Mom would command us to clean up, put the chairs in place, and all that.
The what we call the "front Verandah". It's roughly facing east, so there's a bit of a glare. I'm taking these photos early in the morning before anyone's up.
From the main entrance we turn left, and there's the start of this corridor. The first door on the right... is my room. Sorry, just woke up, so didn't make my bed yet at time of taking the photo. There's also a ka-zillion of dog beds in my room because... Sai Lup's bed (the one smack in the middle of the room) should be retired, it stinks and it's falling apart because of being washed so many times, so I bought a new one, the blue one behind him, but he doesn't like it. But Menina likes that new bed, so we have to keep them. There's another dog-bed-bucket that's behind the white fan and that was Bido's (passed away 2 or so years ago) but since Nutmeg likes that bed, we have to keep that bed too.
Out from my room you see this long corridor that leads to other places. I'll skip the parents' room because they are still in there. The far end just right of the bathroom is my Sis' room. The weird flourescent light track there is because, this WAS the dining room and study before the grand renovation (my Sis and I shared my bedroom before). Not sure if you noticed the big iMac in the dining room, but I also hate it because whenever Dad Skypes with his family, the view of the camera is more or less like this (photo on the left), so if I need to go to the washroom, THEY WILL SEE ME. And I do not want to be seen... because then I'm forced to go say hi and talk to them... Not that I don't want to talk to them... but... it's over Skype, I'm already crap in German, over Skype you can't really hear well, and all that.
A very tiny washroom, but still enough space for a bathtub. I had asked Mom why we didn't just change it to a shower stall and she was like, do you know how rare a bathtub is? What you don't know is, the drain stopper doesn't work anymore and we just can't find a stopper in the right size to actually run a bath, and the bathtub hasn't been used as a bathtub for.... a long long time..... but okay. No fights. And on the left at the end of the same corridor is the kitchen... long, tight, and tiny. Dog and cat water bowl is here.
Beyond the kitchen is the "back verandah". I'm told that when we first moved in here, this "back verandah" was actually an open top area. However, the floor above us, it was a public access corridor (the building is something like twin towers, 2 building towers, the floor plan mirroring each other, with public access corridor and fire escape on the 6th, 9th floors, and the rooftop connecting the two "towers"). All residents on the 5th floor (our floor) petitioned to close off this back verandah corridor because it was actually a security risk, one can just go to the 6th floor and climb down to our open verandah, so all 4 units on the 5th floor had this closed off. That's why you see a weird window in my Sis' room and the bathroom. These used to be facing right out to open air. As you can see though, the back verandah is a mess. It's sort of like our "attic." The book shelf you see in the far end? I did have a fight about that. I said I did not want the book shelf there because I KNEW it's just gonna get crap blocking access to it... but ya know. Mom's house, Mom's rules.
So this is the apartment I live in! Please excuse the mess in... most of the rooms LOL.
