Just a short one - 5 days in Melbourne, an 80 minute plane trip south from Sydney.... Caught up with some friends, but mostly went to see galleries, museums... & a whiskey distillery!!
The stunning view from our Hotel window... It was a nice room though... & nicer than some of the ones we could see over there
Museum of Melbourne's Triceratops Horridis skeleton, complete with scary lighting for the kids...
'Whiskey & Alement' - a little bar in central Melbourne with a whole world of whiskeys (whiskies?) inside. Proud to say my favourite turned out to be an Australian one. More in a moment...
"You think I'm made of money?!?!?" - The relatively famous AMEX dress, worn to the Oscars by Liz Gardiner, the Oscar-winning costume designer, on display at the National Gallery of Victoria
Destined to become a Journal icon for any entries concerning Donald Trump...
My favourite of the Picasso works in the NGV's 'The Picasso Century' exhibition
Got caught trying to leave the NGV with this one (no, not really...). Apparently,
it's been tried before...
My generous Long-Suffering Partner discovered that the makers of my favourite whiskey from Whiskey & Alement were in Port Melbourne & that their distillery was open to the public. It was so hard to leave...
Yes, the
Melbourne Aquarium has real penguins - kept in a large enclosure at about 3 below zero (not that Melbourne in Winter is much warmer!!). Yes, they found Nemo... quite a few tropical clownfish, actually.
The souvenir we both unwittingly (& unwillingly!!!) brought back from Melbourne... A great way to rest up after your holiday @#$%&!!!!!!!!
