Perhaps the biggest plot hole in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince [Film]

If it is possible to produce water from your wand, ALA Harry refilling the fountain in the middle of the cave, then why is it the Weasley’s, Tonks, Lupin and Harry simply stand outside, watching in horror as the burrow burns spectacularly to the ground?

Well I’ve just seen the trailer to Alice in Wonderland, whilst it is to be expected with any Tim Burton flik, I have to ask if the man has been on the drugs again. Oh lordy this is either going to be so fantastically awesome or an epic failure. (I've since changed my mind about what he did with Charlie and the chocolate factory, though it still passes, I‘d rather he have left that one alone.) Anyway, The start to this is so cool. I really liked the music, the dress, Alice, although wtf? She looks 15-16. She falls down the rabbit hole, still awesome. But then we have the CGI sigh from me. It’s so obviously animated, I’ll continue to oppose it until everyone stops using it so excessively. I’ve recently come from re-watching The Dark Crystal, a film that was entirely created with physical props/ sets/ minatures what have you. Each of the creatures/ characters were done with a person inside to create this world and it’s so beautiful, and it feels so real. Oh but green screen is just that much cheaper and SO much more can be achieved with it. >_<

Okay, I love Dee and Dum. Sort of nightmarish mixed with the pretty is the feel for Wonderland. Dee and Dum are fat/ big except for their faces, which are really small. The queen’s head is too large for her body, there are two pretty young females on a balcony, one looking like a snow/ ice princess. (Aha! The other one is Alice herself.) There is also a cool looking guy with a black heart eye patch. (The Knave of Hearts?) Is this an accurate telling of the book or is Burton making up his own story and warping characters, I’m not sure. The Cheshire cat looks so creepily brilliant though.

Oh, my, god.

It’s Johnny Depp as Hatter. I am-stunned. What is with the hair and the eyes!!???? He looks like he’s on speed and sounds like it to. He sounds like a cross between Austin Powers and Russel Brand and kind of dominates the trailer, implying he might be something of a main character. Then again, they needed to say JD’s in it, to secure seat butts. Um…that was weird.

I love Burton still. He’s one of my favourite directors to this day, but I’ll gladly admit when his overstepped the mark. I love his imagination, his vision, style, the motifs, Danny Elfman’s scores. I love the actors he uses, (Helenaaaa!) so I’m pretty sure (please tell me Lee has signed on for this as well!) I’m not going to hate it. But I’m not so sure what’s going to happen with this.
