Live from Columbia

Hello everyone. I hope you're all having a great weekend, be it in Boston or Athens or Gainesville or good old Marietta.

I myself am up in NYC visiting Columbia. Yesterday after I arrived I had brunch at John Jay, the gorgeous dining hall here on campus. The wood and designs inside are so classic looking. I know it's lame but it's seriously like the most gorgeous dining hall ever. Since the weather was atrocious yesterday, after breakfast we just hung out watching TV and talking before the girls had practice. The pool is in the basement of the athletic facilities. Columbia is amazing in how they managed to create proper facilites for all of its sports. Basically, they dug down. So the gym starts at ground level and goes 4 stories down. But it's all very nice. After practice we went to one of the many ABC studio buildings at Lincoln Center. We had a tour which was really neat because we got to see how the news comes together every night. It's a very complicated process. But then we got to sit offset and watch the anchor, Bob Woodruff, do his thing. The coolest was that Barbara Walters came in for a piece. We had no idea she was going to be there. Anyway after that we went to Columbus Circle for dinner and then came back and had a little ice cream party. By then by host and I were exhausted and went to bed.

Today I woke up around 7 with my host because she had practice and I did some cardio for an hour (30 minutes on the bike and 30 on the elliptical). Then I showered and Diana (the coach) and I went to Starbucks and talked about Columbia and swimming and etc before stopping at the grocery store to get some food for the girls. Then we came back to Rachel's dorm and while she got ready for the day I went to the Columbia bookstore and got some goods. Then Rach and I took the subway . It was such a beautfiul day to be in the City. The sun finally came out, and the temperature couldn't have been better. I was comfortable in jeans and a tee shirt. Anyway, first we headed to Bloomingdale's. Seeing nothing there priced under $50, we took a taxi a little further uptown and shopped at GAP, American Eagle, and Victoria's Secret. I got two nice warm winter sweaters at GAP. And then we came back, talked to Jenny, and enjoyed banana bread. Right now I'm hanging out while Rach catches a quick nap.

So anyway I guess that's it for now. I really like Columbia, like I knew I would.

Brown or Columbia? This is going to be the hardest decision of my life.
