So prom weekend was all I had hoped for and more.
It began early on Friday when me, Rachel, and K.C. left school after second period (meaning not once this semester have I made it through a complete week of school). We went to lunch at Nirvana, Jess' new place of employment. None of us had ever been there and were quite pleased with it. After Nirvana we went to Coldstone since none of us had been for some time. I forgot the joy of cheesecake ice cream. Then K.C. had to go to work and Rachel and I got manicures and pedicures for prom. They turned out nicely. Then we came back to my house and tried to lay out, but the sun was gone. Angela came by and we decided to go to the park and play. On the way out I caught sight of my roller blades and decided I had to use them.
With pads and helmet on, and the help of Rachel and Angela, I made it to the park alive. Later that night K.C. joined us again and we watched the special features on Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Then we played Harry Potter UNO. And Angela kicked our asses. She’s an UNO master. Or should I say headmaster. Oh, how I love me a lame Harry Potter joke.
The next morning I had glorious plans to sleep in. Sadly, at around 9:45 I woke up and the sunlight mixed with pre-prom excitement didn’t allow me to fall back asleep. So I watched Ocean’s 12 on HBO, and it was awful. But, I watched the whole thing, simply because Brad Pitt and George Clooney are just so pretty.
At 1:30 I got my hair done, got Tommy’s boutonniere, got a frappuccino, and came home to get ready.
After I was all done getting ready Anna Wolosick, home from UGA for Spring Break, came to visit me.
Tommy came around 5 and we headed over to the picture party at Alex Mauney’s.
What a fine looking pair. All of my friends looked absolutely beautiful.
We hung out outside for a while before going inside for some couple and group shots.
We came back outside, took some more pictures. I showed Jess some love.
Then the Hummer limo came.
For dinner we went to ONE.midtown kitchen. It was amazing. First they brought out bread and hummus. Then Tommy and I shared an amazing appetizer of mozzarella cheese with gooseberries and some other topping. For my entrée I had the steak frite. And for dessert we shared pecan pie with Jack Daniels ice cream and caramel. It was fabulous. We got to the dance around 10 and I had a fantastic time dancing. My favorite was Footloose cause c’mon, how can you not get your groove on to that one?
When we got back to Rachel’s we all settled down, and soon Joey and Tommy were entertaining us with some tunes. Joey sang a song about Prom 2K6 in which he mentioned everything from Alex’s height to my boobs. Here they are jamming.
The after party was lovely and before I knew it morning came, bringing bagels and porch talk with my dear friends. Angela and I looked rough that morning.
It took my four shampoos to get the hairspray out of my hair. Later on Sunday I saw Jenny and Rachel for the first time since Winter Break, cementing this weekend as one of the best ever. Since then I’ve done nothing really but hang with Jenny. Which is lovely. I will miss her dearly when she leaves me tomorrow.
But alas, this is enough for sure.
Hope you’re happy sista.
