Things That Made Me Happy Last Week, Week One-Hundred-Seventy-Six

  • I had a big weekend of hanging out with people I don't usually see much. On Saturday Corinne, Pilar and I caught a movie (The Sorcerer's Apprentice...not my idea) before having a delightful lunch. On Sunday I headed up to a gaming day Lexi & Randy were having, with a bunch of board games I'd never heard of before (Carcassonne, Settlers of Catan, Pandemic); we don't really keep in touch much--I hadn't seen them since Boxing Day--so it was nice to have an entire easy-going day to catch up a little.
  • One of many reasons to envy the people at Comic Con: street signs in Klingon. Of course, CC got even more awesome.
  • This article exemplifies one of the biggest reasons why I truly love the internet. Where else could one find such intriguing & gleeful analysis of contemporary cultural ephemera?
  • Also a reason to love the internet: steampunk Lady Gaga.
  • Humane alternatives to prison sentences...in Texas?
