Recently, I was discussing with a friend how I did, in fact, attend a tea party. Almost immediately was I labeled as "one of those right wing crazies". Of course, the common opinion of me according to those around me becomes less relevant with each passing day. I'm afraid, as a centrist, I must begin to completely disregard the perspectives of extreme right and left folks regarding my decisions...or I'll have whiplash from being tossed into various groups left and right. You see, just a scant few months ago, I was being called a "bleeding heart liberal" by many of my more conservative associates.
Yes, I was in fact involved in protesting the poor policies of George "dubya" and as a result, I was declared a left wing crazy. Now, I observe negatives in the policies of the government during the Obama administration and by dissenting, I have now been relegated to a gun-collecting, mountain dweller waiting for the sure to come, liberal zombie apocalypse.
People, for the love of everything holy, I am a CENTRIST. I do not recognize any merit whatsoever in political parties...I think they are counter-effective, fostering a fatalistic "Us v Them" mentality that makes people even MORE blind to the fact that we all live here and that MOST of us aren't quite so blinded by zeal as all that.
In closing, do I think we pay ridiculous taxes? Yes. Do I furthermore believe that standard taxation and spending practices do not make effective use of the funds? Absolutely. Do I hate Obama and his administration? No. It is the goal in my life to eradicate hate wherever I find it.
Most importantly....Am I a RIGHT-wing or LEFT-wing extremist? No, because I personally believe anyone thinking in such extremes is both dangerously blinded by their zeal, and also displays a "follower" mentality that I will never acknowledge as helpful to the cause of civilization.
Thank you for your time.
