Upon watching the episode of The Twilight Zone, "The Obsolete Man", it occurs to me that our society is, while not quite there yet, well on it's way to determining matters in the manner used in this episode. While I am no conservative, liberal, Republican or Democrat, it bears saying that all those who read Orwell's 1984 "should" recognize that excessive liberal governmental practice is the most direct path to an oppressive, tyrannical state. When governments gain the ability to govern the day to day actions of the people, it has become powerful enough to determine which actions those people are capable of taking. When fear of the unknown, be it the unknown danger that "could" lurk in other countries or the unknown within the mind of our neighbors, motivates us to attempt the impossible, to assure a life free of danger, sickness, death...we have then become the "true" obsoletes. There is no freedom from these negatives, no matter what companies try to tell you. Truth in this world is common sense, and common sense will remind you that if it seems too good to be true...it is. Therefore, there will always be sickness, no matter how many pills you take. There will always be death, no matter how many experiments you concoct. There will always be danger, no matter how much you pad the world. And there will always be fools like me, who see something that seems to be more and more elusive for all our statistical research....the truth.
