I think I hate answering machines.
I always end up sounding like a total dork, -or else really pathetic, I'm sure- because answering machines can't interrupt me and let me know I've talked long enough.
Or that I shouldn't have called.
Or that I call too much.
...that's if I -am- calling too much or too needlessly.
Since it's an answering machine, I just don't know.
It's no fault of the owner of said answering machine, mind you.
When one is monstrously busy, one cannot be expected to answer one's phone, nor can one be expected to return a call if one's only spare time is either excessively late in the day or non-existant.
So it's me versus the answering machine.
All this to say I don't leave answering machine messages for just anyone.
I only make a fool of myself (on answering machines anyway) for people who are exceptionally special to me.
Curse you, answering machine.
