From the weekend

There is an endeavour towards selling the house where I've been living for a while, which has involved a lot of tidying up over the last few weeks. This lead up to an open day this weekend. The entirely wonderful herecirm came down a day early and won points with my mum by being awesomely helpful while I was at work.

The ponies have been quite happy in their new home. Cash is being hilariously adorable. Unfortunately Zorro is still lame and worse for having more space. He is booked in for an MRI next week, so I need to find transport to get us there and back. I have to accept that given his age and type, along with the ongoing nature of this lameness, I have probably ridden him for the last time.

On a brighter note, teaching remains fun and next weekend is studio time with The Patient Wild.

Cash enjoying his new field.

Sun-dappled palomino.

The other night Cash wanted to play, so we spent a time running together. He was being ever so cute, charging off around his paddock then trotting back to me, ears forward and full of cheerfulness.

Trotting up to say hello.

Working on getting Artie braver about things around him. We worked on stepping over some old carpet. Once he started he didn't want to touch it.

This type of work is a great foundation for teaching a horse to load.

Getting a lot calmer...

Walking over. Eventually I got him standing on it and crossing quite happily. The trick with him is to make sure he doesn't have a chance to lose the plot. As long as everything is calm he does really well.

Me and my ponies. I sure hope nobody replaces me in their affections...

... damnit!
