That is an edit I did based on a pic from The Gundam Encyclopedia, which USED to be THE place for American Gundam fans, this was probably before you ever noticed Gundam. Unfortunately the creator of he sight couldn't maintain it as Gundam series became more popular in the US, so he shut it down saying, "I created this sight to bring attention to the Gundam series, and I think that's been done." Since then the wiki format, and MechHQ have taken over, but I miss the old site, and the art, all of which he did himself. Most of which I passively archived before the site went down.
It used to be a lot of people used his art as the basis for custom MS's that got posted in his forums, among other places. I never posted anything, but that Leo is an example of the many custom suits I've done. The reason why his art was so useful was because it was all designed for to be posted in standard HTML/Java templates he used on his site. This was done so that when switching between equipment layout pictures, you didn't see a visual stutter. The loss of that art resource was a huge blow to the community, though with the proliferation of CG in modern animation, that blow has been lessened. Now official sites use computer rendered artwork from the actual show, almost all of which is posed in the same, predetermined neutral position which means I'm back! I've done custom Mechs for Gundam Seed, Gundam 00, and Code Gease, and I hate that show.
Which reminds me, Gundam 00, the control of solar power generation in one source of conflict in that universe. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WRITERS!
As far as the Leo goes, I prefer the Maganac, or the Tragos in terms of first generation Mobile Suits. Both of which feature, quite accidentally, superior stats when compared to their contemporaries. The Leo, and by extension, all other first generation mobile suits, with the exception of these two, preform uniformly poorly. The best part of the Maganac, and Tragos is they are both mass production MS's. Generally speaking we don't see major improvement in OZ MS design until the Taurus comes into being, which is really just a catchup machine when compared to the Gundams.
I would contend that the Tallgeese isn't a dueling suit, like the Epyon, but is rather a soldier suit, albeit a very powerful one. Actually I see the Vayeate, and the Mercurius as the more direct descendants of the Tallgeese, and by extension Leo lineage, and have made custom MS's, featuring more traditional Tallgeese armaments in place of their super weapons. Keep in mind, the Tallgeese itself uses the same dober gun, shield, and beam sabers as the standard Leo. This armament package, I will agree with you, is I think a more sensible one.
I'll send you the pics of my custom Vayeate, and Mercurius, one of which would be, as per my rule of, "if you can photoshop it, it's real," my MS were I to play a GW RPG, or write a GW self insert fanfic. Not that I ever have, and even if I did a self insert you couldn't prove it.
YOU HAVE NO PROOF, I SAY, NO PROOF AT ALL! WHY IS EVERYONE STARING AT ME? Shouting? You don't say, I hadn't noticed. Does it suddenly seem quiet to anybody else?
