Dear editors!
First I have to apologize to all of you for being a less than awesome mod these last few months. I know I should have stepped down as mod a lot earlier, since I clearly wasn't able to keep up with the work that needs to be done, but I just did not want to part with it.
Now I've also missed my turn to post the newsletter Tuesdays twice, so I feel it's time to hand this over to someone who's better equipped to deal with this.
Anyway, here's the truth: I've been struggling with health issues for a while now, but a week ago I was admitted to the hospital with a stroke. I spent a week at the hospital and was released yesterday, but I'm recovering slowly and don't know how long it'll take me to go back to normal. Unfortunately that means prioritizing, and I feel like I can't say with good conscience that I will be able to do what it takes to keep the newsletter alive. Right now I barely seem to be able to do my work as editor.
I'm really sorry about this, and I am very grateful for all the work you have put into this newsletter. But I won't be able to moderate it anymore. I hope someone will step forward and support my awesome co-mod
kaizoku in running the newsletter, and I'm happy to answer any questions regarding the community, if I can. I know it's going to be a bit of work, because it's been a constant struggle to find enough editors to cover all days - as you all know - and the change in delicious has set us back to the days of manual coding, after we were so lucky to have an awesome script to help us with the newsletter, thanks to the initiative of
debris-k and
murklins. But I hope someone will be able to keep the newsletter alive - I was trying to honor
bekkis initiative who founded an ran the newsletter for quite a while when I took over, but clearly my health does not allow for this anymore, and I feel like I'm letting you down with every day and try and keep going.
I hope you understand. Let me (or
kaizoku) know if you are interested in modding the community, we can give you access to passwords etc.
Good luck with everything, and thanks again for your work!
Yours, Merle P.
