Chapter 4
Seohyun made it to the top eventually, but she slipped a couple of times and her pretty blue dress was now all dirt. "Look at me! Aish!" Seohyun complained, gesturing to her dress. Sooyoung laughed but Ryeowook just stared at her.
Seohyun was annoyed, but soon she forgot her anger as she gazed out wonderously at the beautiful flowers. "So preeeeety!" Seohyun gushed. "Aren't they just?" Sooyoung said. "Appa and oppa grew them by hand, and then oppa and I help to pick the good ones to sell. I grade the flowers afterwards," Sooyoung continued proudly.
"You mean... you sell flowers for a living?? And don't you have garderners to do all the planting and picking?" Seohyun asked scornfully. Ryeowook was still staring at her. Sooyoung laughed good-naturedly. "Not all of us is as rich as you Seohyun. We have to work you know. But is enjoyable, and getting out profits and knowing its cos' of our hard work is really gratifying!" she said, leading the way through the rows of flowers.
Seohyun just nodded, partly because she didn't want to argue with Sooyoung and partly because she was having trouble walking through the flower stalks. Ryeowook, who was behind her, pushed away the stalks for her to make it easier to walk. "Kamsahamida," she said sweetly, and Ryeowook nodded.
"Okay. Now. To pick sunflowers. Look for those that their stalks aern't bent. Also, the bigger the petals, the better. Let's go!" Sooyoung explained. Seohyun nodded and got to work. She did enjoy herself though, surprisingly, even though the sun was beating down on her back. As she worked, she felt Ryeowook's eys on her. She glanced up and he looked away, embarrassed. Sooyoung witnessed the scene and she nudged Seohyun. "He's got a thing for you!" she sang. Ryeowook eyed her menancingly, and she shut up and got back to work.
As dusk fell, the trio returned to the cottage with their baskets laden with sunflowers. "My! What a trio!" Sooyoung's mother exclaimed as they set their baskets on the kitchen table. "Tea?" she asked, pushing three cups of chrysanthemum tea to them. Seohyun accepted her cup gladly and was surprised to find it tasted better than those sold outside. "We grow our own speciallized chrysanthemums, cool eh?" Sooyoung asked. Seohyun nodded sincerly. "That explains the taste," she thought.
Sooyoung's mother invited her to stay for dinner, and she accepted with good grace. She even helped set the table, somehting she had never done before. As she ate and talked, she found herself much happier than she had been lately, though why she should feel that in a small cottage eating soup, rice, vegetables and fried fish she did not know.

"Thank you for the meal!" Seohyun thanked, as she got ready to leave. "You're welcome!" Sooyoung's mother said. 'Do come over tomorrow! I'll sell the sunflowers we picked and graded!" Sooyoung chirped, and Seohyun nodded eagerly. They had spent time grading the flowers, and Sooyoung had praised Seohyun for having soft hands and good judgement which were appropriate for grading flowers. It had not been easy, but Seohyun had felt proud when she finished her assigned bunch of sunflowers.
"Finally! She's left!" Ryeowook muttered. "Why oppa? You LIKE her," Sooyoung teased. "I DO NOT!" Ryeowool said hotly. "Then why the staring?" Sooyoung asked mischievously. "She's so...spoilt! Ugh! I was so afraid of her ruining our flowers with her clumsiness I HAD to keep an eye on her! And scorning our work, just when me and appa have worked so hard too! So what if she's rich?!" Ryeowook thundered. "Ryeowook dear, she doesn't understand our way of life, you can't blame her. Hush now," his mother consoled. Ryeowook took a deep breath.
'Yah oppa! Don't be angry! You look like a pumpkin if you do!" Sooyoung said. "I do not!" Ryeowook denied. "Do so!" "Do not!" "Yes you do!" "I do not!" "Yes yes yes!" "NOO!"
Their mother shook her head and did not know whether to laugh or cry. As she watched her son chase her daughter around the kitchen table, she thought to herself,"You never know. My two might do some good for that little miss, and maybe she'd do some good to my two too!"
