This mp3 is a reading set to music that tells the story of a man who has abstained from alcohol and drugs his entire life. He is offered and decides to accept some hashish, his first altered state of consciousness is described.
Hashisheen: The End of Law - Tale Of The Caliph Hakem.mp3
This reading is from Bill Laswell's 1998 concept album titled "Hashisheen - The End of Law". It's a collection of mystic readings set to music created with a mixture of modern and traditional instruments and styles. Most of the readings loosly relate to Hasan-i-Sabbah who lead an Islamic sect/cult, the Hashshashin, in the 11th century. It's suggested that they were the worlds first assassins, and that they incorporated hashish into their spiritual and warrior lives.

If you're interested in listening to similar stuff, check it out the rest of the album. The mp3 album i've downloaded is 44meg, but I could only find it within Bill Laswell's discography(download torrent) which is 2gig. You may want to set your torrent software to only download the 44meg, rather than the entire 2gig. Or just reply here to let me know you'd like a burnt copy ;)

Also, have a look into Hasan-i-Sabbah and the Hashshashin both are fascinating!
