Prompt Sing Fathers Father!Mike, implied Mike/Artie, abandonment, death, angst,

Mike sighed; most would assume that after highschool he would be working to become a famous dancer, or a doctor if someone didn't know him enough. Afterall, he'd had near perfect grades, he'd had absolutely stunning moves, and he'd always been determined so failure and the likelihood that he would become a nobody, seemed low in the world's eyes. As well, they may assume that he and Tina would stay together despite her still being in highschool; more romantic minds may envision that they'd get married, have children and be known to the world as the dancing duo.

But was that what happened? No, he'd choosen a different path.

Despite everything, he'd chosen love, and one night where he let his inhibitions go free. He'd chosen to lean forward and kiss the boy who, atlast had seen a good day in his sporadic recovery, again and again. And, he'd chosen to follow through when it was revealed that the night of freedom had left him with lasting effects, despite being alone.

So was it all worth it? Was it worth being kicked out, dropping out of college, working nonstop to afford a shack of an apartment, spending most of his time frustrated with the things he couldn't change, and losing any chance of being a dancer? But then again, if happiness was in the eye of the beholder, were these things really so bad, especially in exchange fro the things he now possessed? He was free, he for the first time in his life knew who he was and that all of his successes and failures were from his own actions. He went to bed each night knowing that it was strictly his doing that there was food in the house, and money for gas, and that their electricity was on. Aswell, as he awoke to the sounds of wails and warmed a bottle, he was comforted by the features that were not his, that while Artie was gone a piece of him would carry on because of a choice Mike himself had made. And lastly, Mike had loved more deeply than most would ever in this lifetime and he'd paid the price; still, the smile only grew stronger as he cradled a beautiful little girl, one who would carry on perhaps both her father's dreams to dance.

Yes, it was worth it, he thought despite his loneliness, totally worth it.
