This is our standard policy on warnings on fic. This policy applies across all big bangs run through
gleekmods.
The purpose of a warning on a fic is to let the readers know what they are getting before they click on the link. Some subject matter is very triggering for certain readers, while other subject matter simply falls outside the purview of the types of stories that readers enjoy and feel comfortable reading.
The following must be included in the warnings in your header and the AO3 tags on your fic if they are present in your fic:
Child abuse (physical, emotional, or sexual)
Domestic abuse/violence (parent/child, spousal, partners, etc.)
Incest (parent/child, sibling, etc.; not necessary to warn for step-siblings)
Non-con/dub-con, including statutory
Sex involving any character(s) below the age of consent
Graphic violence (including vore)
Suicide/suicidal ideation - this includes discussions of suicide or plans to commit suicide
Self-harm - this specifically refers to self-inflicted injury like cutting, burning, etc.
Major character death (whether or not that death is canonical).
If your fic contains these situations and you do not warn for them, you’ll be given an opportunity to update your header and your AO3 tags, after which time your fic will be deleted.
We strongly suggest you include warnings/AO3 tags for the following:
Minor character death (whether or not that death is canonical)
Kinks (BDSM, slave, bloodplay, breathplay, scat, etc. - if it’s something you’d prompt on the kink meme, consider warning for it)
Mpreg
Underage drug/alcohol use
Substance abuse of any nature
Mental health issues, including eating disorders.
Situations where sexually-involved individuals have a power imbalance (such as teacher/student, jailer/prisoner, employer/employee, police officer/detained civilian, commanding officer/soldier) that makes consent questionable, regardless of the ages of the characters.
It is never necessary to warn for top/bottom/switch/versatile characters in any GleekMods-run activity, regardless of the character or the fandom’s tropes or biases about that character. It is also not necessary to warn for sexual content, regardless of of the characters’ genders; the explicitness of sexual content should be taken into account when rating the fic.
Thank you all for your cooperation and for keeping the
GleekMods family a safe space for readers!
